I see that Insane Crazy posted a IHA topic, but I'd like to resume this more broad one we had before the hacking. I sure hope Tachyon and Uma make it back here.

Eh...I've been in a raicng graveyard for more than 3 days, and now obviously been half-dissolved in there. But, in response to a voice calling me back to the forum to say hello as a zombie , here is part of the numbers of mares bred to Japanese stallions in 2013:
1. Deep Impact -- 262 (Is he all right?)
(pregnancy confirmed: Azeri, Donna Blini, Salomina, Mosheen, Southern Speed,King's Rose, Stardom Bound, Musical Romance, Zazu, Tapitsfly)
2. Kurofune -- 216
3. Daiwa Major -- 209
4. Rulership -- 208
5. Deep Brillante -- 205
Smart Falcon -- 164
Turtle Bowl -- 116
King Kamehameha -- 81(-170)(*)
Falbrav -- 65 (-80)
Meisho Samson -- 32 (-73)
(*) King Kamehameha has reportedly been in poor shape, and stopped covering mares in mid season, which is so worrying. Perhaps, his accumulated numbers of mares covered in the past was too many? Rulership replaced him.
Both Falbrav, a good BMS, and Meisho Samson are unpopular, which is disappointing for me.

Shadai Stallion Station announced the numbers above on 10th September that naturally deal only with their stallions and are public, up on the internet.
With other stallions who stand at other stallion stations, like RIM, I don't know. Perhaps, their facebook might already have shown the information. Or you could know it from racing books, which I'm afraid any zombie couldn't afford.

The original thread title was ''Japanese stallions''.
Poor Hat Trick, Silent Name, Agnes Gold, Dabirsim and so on who can't come back to this thread any more.

I think the original poster simply forgot the old thread title. I doubt there was any intention to exclude Japanese exports.tachyon wrote:''Stallions in Japan''???Retrospectiv wrote:I see that Insane Crazy posted a IHA topic, but I'd like to resume this more broad one we had before the hacking. I've always wondered if Agnes has a specific meaning in these names?uma_nosuke wrote:Agnes Digital - 75
In the US, it's a female name that was apparently more popular 50+ years ago, and I know there are female saints of that name (it means something close to "holy" in its original Greek form). Does it signify something else in Japan? Because when I read Agnes this and Agnes that, I always have the mental image of a bunch of old ladies running around in a field instead of stallions

Takao Watanabe uses Agnes’ which reportedly comes from celebrity Agnes Chan’s first name. Agnes Tachyon (1999 Satsuki Sho, leading sire)

That makes so much more sense now. I'd noticed it a few times in certain names, but never found an explanation of it.Northport wrote:http://www.japanracingnetwork.com/JRN/H ... acing.html

In the US, I suppose it's somewhat similar to the owners who use Starship, Karakorum, and Warren from their names--although in the US, the way our claiming works really screws up the point of doing that.

Kate Hunter did a great job, didn't she?Northport wrote:http://www.japanracingnetwork.com/JRN/H ... acing.html

No one had ever introduced Japan's ''Kanmei'' in detail in English before.
She was always a great spokesman with unbiased eyes for the Japanese racing.
Let's hope she will be back (to TBC as well) soon!

It's super common in Standardbreds, though. Hanover, Blue Chip, Four Starzzzz, Fox Valley, Odds On, Southwind, etc.BlindLucky wrote:That makes so much more sense now. For those of you wondering 'what the heck is the City of Hope Mile Stakes,' it was the Arroyo Seco last year. And for years before that, it was the Oak Tree Mile.

Summer Bird looked great here in the United States too. And happy as well.
Sometimes it seems like the horses magically get much better care and become so much happier once they are shipped to Japan. Seriously? That is just silly.
Like we mistreat our animals here? Really? A good looking horse is a good looking horse.
Union Rags is an example. He is gorgeous and happy looking at Lane's End. Would he look better in Japan?
