Carpe Diem doing well lately with recent stakes winner Fingal’s Cave and TDN Rising Star Kinza. He is currently standing in LA for 3500 at a small farm called “ The Stock Exchange”. Wasn’t he overseas for awhile? I feel like this is an interesting story… https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/c ... unveiling/

No. He shuttled to Chile but when he was sold from WinStar, he went to Louisiana in 2022.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2023 2:21 pm Carpe Diem doing well lately with recent stakes winner Fingal’s Cave and TDN Rising Star Kinza. Here's a year-end article from TDN on the extraordinary 5th year in a row on top of the General Sire Listing for everybody's favorite stallion, Into Mischief.
One thing I thought interesting is that the article has no hesitation in pointing out the "quantity" disparity, which, of course, shines a massive light on Spendthrift's overbreeding of this horse! He had basically TWICE as many starters this year as his closest competitors, Curlin and Bolt D'Oro.
The Jockey Club tried to put a curb on this practice a few years ago by attempting to cap the number of covers. I don't think anybody ever thought that would survive constitutional "private property" and "restraint of trade" issues, and sure enough, it didn't! We now have Into Mischief bred to a surprisingly low number of about 177 mares, but Golden Pal, a freshman turf sprint stallion gets something like 296 mares!
Anyway, here it is!

Honestly by the major farms throwing that snit and not allowing the cap to pass I feel it's helping shrink the gene pool (in America) quicker.

Taiba's unraced half-brother by Uncle Mo, Need More Mo, is standing at Buckeye Stallion Station in Ohio. he's been there since it was opened in 2022 but i don't think it has been mentioned here before, i personally didn't know he had been retired to stud. he bred 11 mares in 2023 and 8 in 2022 (for 5 live foals).
Blue Hen Mare Kiosk, Granddam of Taiba, Dies at 23

Ryan retained Needmore Flattery as a broodmare. She produced a colt by multiple leading sire Uncle Mo for her first foal, who was named Need More Mo. The colt never made it to the racetrack but is getting a shot at stud at the Buckeye Stallion Station near Hubbard, Ohio.

Midnight Sands (Speightstown - It's Midnight, by Shamardal) is new at Norton Grove Stud in England for 2024. He won a G3 on dirt at Meydan, family of Zagora.

Meanwhile, the website for Pegasus Stud in New Jersey is finally up. Nice boutique stud roster for that region. I'm watching Sea Wizard closely.

Oh nice, they're standing Invader. He has a good pedigree and I think a regional market is perfect for him.Mylute wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 9:53 am

Update in him and photo from FB:Izvestia wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 1:44 am I thought Normandy Invasion was retired from stud duty? Gelded and to become a riding horse??? https://www.paulickreport.com/horse-car ... ort-horse/
Shitty deal about Dortmund.
"This is Normandy Invasion. If that name sounds familiar, you might remember him from his fourth-place finish in the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Normandy Invasion is a fourteen-year-old gelding by multiple graded stakes winner Tapit and out of Boston Lady, by Boston Harbor. His pedigree also includes Pulpit, Unbridled, Capote and Raise a Native. He sold for $230,000 at the Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. He went on to win a Maiden Special Weight and place second in the Gr. 2 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct that fall. As a three-year-old, he ran second in the Gr. 2 Wood Memorial Stakes and fourth in the Gr. 1 Kentucky Derby. Unfortunately, after the Derby, he was sidelined due to a hoof abscess. In his first start back at age four, he set a new track record at Gulfstream Park for one mile in 1:33.13. His career was interrupted again by a lung infection, after which he never returned to his previous form. A sesamoid fracture at age five forced his retirement from racing. His final record was twelve starts, two wins, five seconds and $551,900 in earnings.
Normandy Invasion entered stud under the ownership of Spendthrift Farm. He sired several race winners but no outstanding performers. For that reason, he was pensioned and gelded in 2020. After spending a few years simply enjoying the bluegrass pastures of Kentucky, it was time for this handsome bay to find a job. He was adopted by Tanja Fichera of True Feel Horsemanship in Southern California. Tanja hopes to compete in Western Dressage with Normandy Invasion. Of course, she plans to do whatever he decides he likes best, even if that means just enjoying each other’s company on the trails. "

Shitty deal about Dortmund.
Izvestia, to what are you referring here? I know Dortmund died at 10 of colic in 2022, but was there something about his death that caused your 'shitty deal' remark? TIA.

Izvestia's post that Restrospectiv quoted was from 2020 when it was just announced that Dortmund was sold to South Korea.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 9:00 pm Shitty deal about Dortmund.
