I would say I'm a fan of Aidrie, as far as farms go. They have a nice mix of commercial appeal (Complexity, Highly Motivated) vs less or non commercial (Happy Saver, Divisidero), but generally don't seem to follow the mainstream. I don't see them allowing Mage to have a book of 200+ (which I don't think would ever happen, unless he was at Darby Dan lol) and overbreeding him. Plus, from my understanding there's not a lot of evidence suggesting parrot mouth is directly inheritable.

I don't even think Pharoah got one that good.

To be fair people breed to horses who only ran as a 2 year old. So parrot mouth is the least of their worries

So sad!
I really liked him.
And he’s by war front lineage.
Declaration of War was a good sire. Maybe buyers are scared bc DoW hasn’t sired a good sire son yet?

He's listed on Bloodhorse as standing at Red River Farms, Coushatta, LA

Must be a very fresh update, as his website and contact info is all still Spendthrift.

i understand Taiba and Zandon, but Arabian Lion? what???
So Zedan keeps horses in training at 4 to go for the Saudi Cup. Arabian Lion ended up being a sprinter, so I guess he just gets retired. But even if he wasn't owned by Zedan he would have probably still been retired. Commercial pedigree + able to win G1 at 3 = time to cash out

I imagine the floodgates of retirements/standing for 2024 announcements are coming. Plus once Keeneland September is over more stallions will be moved out. I'm not sure of the size of Spendthrift's stallion barn(s) but they moved out Free Drop Billy and now Taiba is there. Do they need to move on 2 more? I know back in the 80s when they were under different ownership, they stood an insane amount of stallions. But so did Gainesway and there stallion roster is alot smaller now. Pulling out the 1986 BH Stallion Directory, Spendthrift had 40 stallions and Gainesway had 41.
if they do, Mor Spirit and Cloud Computing should start packing their bags asap.

not super sure where to post this, but thought this topic might be the most fitting. i was looking through the CTHS Alberta Yearling Sale catalogue and found a few by Local Legend (Storm Cat), a 20yo whose first foals are three-year-olds this year, which means he entered stud in 2019. i checked and his last race was in 2009. does anyone know where he was this entire time and why the owners suddenly decided to stand him? he doesn't seem to be popular ("sire of 6 foals" — 4 catalogued here), doesn't have much going for him race record wise... just curious as i don't think we see cases like this too often.

A sight to behold in full flight, the 2021 Dirt Mile winner inspired breeders to send him a first book containing 25 Grade I winners and/or producers, as well as 70 graded winners and/or producers.

this is an American Pharoah/Justify level 1st book, isn't it?
Flightline’s book must be absolutely insane. I would love to see a list of his mares once the season is over.

They don't really give the same numbers, they never do. But his says: “Flightline had an excellent start at stud, covering 152 mares including more than 50 Grade I mares or Grade I producers,”

Well, thanks to the 2023 mares bred thread, I found 113 of the 150 mares bred to Flightline. (I decided I'm going to follow him. I originally was going to follow Not This Time because I love the way his offspring look, but he's bred to way too many mares for that.) Here's the list:

That's my question. Not This Time's book is so big and he's still so young, the only reason why someone would look at a son of his is price.
