Boat Trip's first foal and first winner Bettor Trip Nick (o/o Bettor Knot, by In Excess) has a cool blaze.

It appears the perlino colt is with a nurse mare. I wonder what happened with his dam? :(

Hinkle Farms is selling this blonde Orb colt out of Please Be Discreet (Discreet Cat) at Keeneland next month. He is from the family of Tackleberry, Outofthebox, Unlimited Budget, etc.

I'm always sceptical of blond chestnuts that are for sale...

some sellers (not sure who exactly) use hair dye to attract attention

Mozu Ascot was a "blonde" yearling

Uhh...I've never heard of that before and I doubt Hinkle has bleached or dyed this colt's hair.

Blonde chestnuts actually aren't that uncommon, and it's also possible for a horse to have blonde in their hair as a youngster only for it to darken (or lighten) with age.

never, not once, heard of this. blonde chestnuts sometimes grow the blonde out. i highly, highly doubt anyone out there is dying their horses, esp in the states where colour is generally irrelevant, and horses bred for colour don't usually run to their flashy looks. (japan not counted, their white horses are generally fairly successful)

edit; if anyone is dying their horses, please out them cuz that's some BS - what else arethey hiding?

Buckskin carries the cream gene. The foal also inherited the cream gene from its sire. Perlino is double cream gene.

Allanglos, I'm not sure why that qualifies as "an odd statement." Here in the States, if you see a TB foal with a chunky buckskin mare, that mare is usually a nurse mare. Most TB breeders here don't breed for color like that.

It is an odd statement, given it's a double dilute foal out of an obviously single dilute dam. Were it a bay dam, I could understand the question.

Cream in TBs is rather common now.
