It's a good question, Starine.
It looks like he is, even if Shadai has not announced his retirement specifically in its website.

Andrew Caulfield wrote in his column as follows:
........
But even the Japanese industry may be approaching a tipping point, as we were reminded when the all-conquering Shadai Farm announced its fees for 2020. The list contained no fewer than 29 stallions but Shadai will have to cope without its major stars Deep Impact and King Kamehameha, both of whom died during 2019.

Also absent from the list is the veteran Kurofune, who ranked among the top ten stallions for an impressive sequence of 12 years.
.......

Here you may find Shadai's official stallion fee lists below:

-- for 2019
https://shadai-ss.com/cms/wp-content/up ... on2019.pdf

-- for 2020
https://shadai-ss.com/cms/wp-content/up ... 0_1220.pdf

Kurofune had been quoted as ''private'' for 2019 season,
But his name disappeared from the list for 2020 season.

Also, Akihiro Shimada, a reputable writer, reported on Kufofune's status for netkeba.com after his visit to Shadai Stallion Station two months ago as follows:

-- from netkeiba.com
https://news.netkeiba.com/?pid=column_view&cid=45098
Kurofune didn't cover any mare this year due to deterioration of liver function. It looks like he is close to retirement.

Hey Tachyon, does Lex Stud have a website of any form? I'd like to look at all their studs.

I'm not Tachyon but Lex Stud does have stallion videos on the JHRA webpage and it appears to be up to date to at least 2019.

https://www.jrha.or.jp/stallion/horse/? ... ach_Patrol

Edit to add:
Here is their actual webpage but the stallion page isn't up yet. It says "Our stallion page is under renewal for the 2020 version. Please wait a little longer until release."

Dance in the Dark(JPN), 1993H. Sunday Silence(USA) x Dancing Key(USA) by Nijinsky(CAN), died of old age at Shadai Stallion Station where he had been pensioned on Jan 2nd 2020.
Dance in the Dark was a real stayer Sunday Silence sired from his second crop.
May he rest in peace.

Dance in the Dark(JPN) was an excellent sire at stud, too.
He became the memorable first Sunday Silence son to sire a G1 winner**, when That's the Plenty(JPN)[o/o Bubble Prospector(USA) by Miswaki(USA)] won the Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) in 2003.
Dance in the Dark also sired another two Kikuka Sho winners Delta Blues(JPN)[o/o Dixie Splash(USA) by Dixieland Band(USA)] in 2004 and Three Rolls(JPN)[o/o Three Roman(JPN) by Brian's Time(USA)] in 2009. Delta Blues went on to win the G1 Melbourne Cup in Australia in 2006.
Dance in the Dark was also represented by the Yasuda Kinen winner Tsurumaru Boy(JPN)[o/o Tsurumaru Girl(JPN) by Soccer Boy(JPN)] at a mile in 2004.
He was an excellent broodmare sire who can add stamina influence, too.

A couple more future stallions to keep the Stay Gold line of Sunday Silence alive, along with Gold Ship, Orfevre, Rainbow Line, et al.
Stay Foolish and Etario could still end up as stallions as well.

Yeah I guess so. :D
Both Stay Foolish and Etario are 5yos who have not won at highest levels.
But they may even end up champions before retiring to stud.
Stay Gold sons can only get better with age. ;)

Seeing a lot of (nice) ads for Yoshida and I gotta say it's very amusing and ironic to see American breeders be like "Hey guys look! SUNDAY SILENCE BLOODLINE!!!!!" After the Great American Mistake of 1990.

This is kinda funny indeed :D And I'm guessing something similar is bound to happens soon with all the nice stallions they are importing. I wouldn't mind Bricks and Mortar or California Chrome being their next Sunday Silence ;)
