I called Spendthrift; he is in quarantine right now and is going to Korea.

Sucks.
So, are you going to go over to the Cigar thread and the Claiborne/tornado thread and chastise the original posters for "spreading rumors"? I reported something that I read on twitter from a source I trusted. And shared it here. Nothing that others haven't done repeatedly, or will most assuredly do in the future. This isn't the friggin' New York Times, it's an internet forum, I don't feel it is necessary to "go to the source". As far as you "hating that", I don't really care. :)

Mares covered / Reports Received / Live foals / Percentage of Live foals
2010/2011 - 97 64 52 54%
2011/2012 - 69 51 42 61%
2012/2013 - 108 79 71 66%
2013/2014 - 89 60 48 54%

He has never been terribly fertile, but he got decent sized books. Perhaps his book size really dropped off this year, or he only had a handful of mares scan in foal? I guess we won't know until the JC releases this year's report of mares bred, or Claiborne says why.
“He bred 18 or 19 mares last year,” said Claiborne stallion director Bernie Sams. “I think what we’ll do is put him up at the Marchmont stud barn and keep Lure company, and if something hits, he’s still around. That’s the plan for him.”

Edited to add: Kudos to Claiborne and the owners of this stallion. I wish more farms would do this when a stallion isn't a success. But its also nice that they aren't ruling out his return to the stallion ranks if he can get some good runners.

As everyone already knows, Australia has been retired to Coolmore Ireland. He will also be joined by War Command, who was also retired today (although he didn't attract quite as many headlines)

Not surprising. He has not been popular with breeders. I don't know how many mares he covered this year but he only has 11 reported weanlings, of course some may be late reporting, he covered 30 mares last year. He only has 20 yearlings and 29 two yearolds.

He was an outcross hope, but he sure didn't put up the numbers. Too bad. I love the Icecapade sire line.

The well-traveled Joshua Tree is also now retired, he's heading to stud at Haras du Grand Courgeon in France.

He was a lovely, well manned horse when I saw him in 2011. Seems like they are very excited about getting him.

So sad. Another one to mourn while watching The First Saturday in May.

Yep, along with Barbaro and Lawyer Ron. Stay safe, Brother Derek. Jazil was so cute in that documentary. I think it was him they showed holding a peppermint in his teeth, like he wasn't sure what it was. RIP.

Dunkirk(USA) has arrived in East Stud on October 11, 2014, after his one month export quarantine in the US and three weeks import quarantine at Yokohama.

In Japan, he is said to have been syndicated for JPY 320,000,000 -- about 3 million US$ -- fully subscribed.

Here's the link to see picks of Dunkirk's arrival at East Stud.

Revolutionary has been retired to WinStar and will stand for $7,500

El Corredor has been sold to Turkey

I have never brokered a stallion sale before, but buying a 17 year old stallion doesn't seem like a super investment.

And Uncaptured will stand at Ocala Stud

I would assume they got him pretty cheap. He was standing in Louisiana and has 55 (2yos, yearlings and weanlings combined). They have bought older stallions before and horses who were considered failures here, have gone on to be top sires there.

-- from uma-furusato.com (Oct 15th)

Henny Hughes(USA) was the busiest stallion in his debut season at Yushun Stallion Station, Hokkaido, Japan.
He covered 191 mares this year, setting the new record number in Yushun stallions history.
It seems that Hennessy sons become very popular at stud in Japan.
Johannesburg(USA) covered 153 mares at JBBA this year, too.
