Theirs for 2023 weren't even in at the time of the 2024 January Sale. But what gives with Walmac? This isn't the first year the new owner has been standing stallions there.
I'm sure you saw, Walmac's are in now. Buck Pond is a ???????????? to me. Like if that google review from last year is true, the one about the customer mares that "fell through the cracks", I don't even know what to say.

Not yet, but next month is when the JC releases the RMBs on their site. Its always a fun day. last year it was later than normal, was almost the end of October.

Top 10 Most-bred Stallions this year:
Practical Joke: 277
Justify: 263
Gunite: 256
Golden Pal: 209
Elite Power: 203
Uncle Mo: 202
4 horses tie with 200 mares each: Gun Runner, Pappacap, Taiba, Vekoma

2023 Triple Crown race winners RMBs:
Mage: 171

The 1/2 brother to Mandaloun, Mullion, got 84 mares. Another interesting one Bolden (only 4 starts) got 40 mares. And the KY stallion with the least amount of mares was True Timber (Calumet).

I'm really surprised the RMBs are out already, last year it was almost the last day of the month.

- Country Grammer is in trouble very early;

- i expected Loggins to get a ridiculous amount of mares because of where he is but Mullion getting 84 mares was not in my bingo card. at the same time, Into Mischief and full brother to a Kentucky Derby winner (...), so... ignore the fact he only started twice and there was a whole year between those 2 starts.

Since the JC was unable to put a stop to the overbreeding on these stallions, the only saving grace at this point is for breeders to support stallions elsewhere. Not getting that money is what will hurt. I know it will not happen, but we will continually dig ourselves into a hole that we can't crawl out of. Genetic diversity will be gone, and half of the projected foal crop numbers will come mainly come from three Kentucky farms.
I wanna do bad things with you.

I’m not surprised at Max Player - it’s why I thought he should be trained for another career. But it’s his owner’s farm, so it doesn’t matter how few mares he gets

I expected HAP to stay at 39, but maybe Glee’s performance will get him a few more mares. It’s not looking great for him, though

Color me shocked that Taibia,Forte and Aravian Lion had such high books. Glad to see Cody's Wish got alot of support his first season

Looks like Calumet came back to life by having more mares for most of their stallions.

Those Pappacap breeders are really hoping that Gun Runner's speed skipped a generation, I guess.

There are several numbers I am not too pleased with (for different reasons) but also several that I am pleased with, in that I think they are nice horses and I am glad they're getting support. Specifically, Up to the Mark, Mage, Dr. Schivel, Zandon, Annapolis, and Proxy. There are other personal favorites with much lower numbers, like Rombauer, but they are not totally unexpected considering numerous factors. When I visited Claiborne the Sunday after the Derby, they said that Annapolis had covered about 110 mares at that point. Seems like he'll have a decent number of May and June babies based on the jump to 149.

I see that Max Player got a whopping 12 mares in the far northeast. I think that's pretty good for him all things considered and I haven't forgotten the "should Max Player be gelded" debate.

I know "Win$tar" and all that but I'm shocked at the support of Two Phil's. I hope his foals' names aren't littered with weird apostrophes and syntax at least. As far as Pappacap with 200, I'm definitely shocked by that even if I think he's a nice horse. But I mean, he made more than five starts, I guess...I don't mind his 200 as much as I mind Shaaz's 89 as weird as that might sound to some.

I still think Max should have been gelded and pointed for another career - but whatever, it is what it is. If his owner doesn’t mind breeding him to so few mares, then it’s not a big deal. It’s not like Max is standing at a KY farm where he’d be sold after a first crop reception of 12 mares - he’s standing at his owner’s farm.

Speaking of 2024 freshman sires...I see that Somelikeithotbrown suspiciously isn't on the list.

What's up? It can't be that Cabin Creek still hasn't reported yet, can it? I would find it extremely hard to believe he didn't get a single mare.

At this point, he does not have a RMB submitted. Some farms just don't care about submitting on time. Buck Pond in Kentucky hasn't submitted theirs yet. Walmac only submitted theirs a couple weeks ago.

I have compiled a list by sire line, I split them if I felt it was needed. Stallions that covered 30 mares plus (as of the RMBs submitted before September 30th). This is 20,402 of the 25,301 mares that were submitted on RMBs.

Caro/Indian Charlie - 13 stallions, 1438 mares covered
Holy Bull - 1 stallion, 41 mares
In Reality/Tiznow - 1 stallion, 45 mares
Hail To Reason - 5 stallions, 363 mares
Raise A Native, 2 stallions, 92 mares (Mr. Prospector is completely separate)

More first year sires:
-Harbored Memories, son of Harbor the Gold got 10 mares in OR
-Hopeful Treasure, G3 winner by Oxbow, 10 mares in PA
-the great throwback Beverly Park got 9 mares in PA. He should have gotten many many more but he's standing at his owner's place and breeding mostly his owner's mares as far as I can tell. You may recall he won 15 of 30 starts in 2022 and finished with 29 wins in 64 starts from ages 3-7.
-Buy Land and See in PA got 9 mares. Stakes-winning son of Cairo Prince.
-Spun Intended, 1 for 3 son of Hard Spun, 6 mares in CA.
-Storm Cruz, unraced son of J. R. Stormy (who?) got 5 mares in KS.
-b]Big Hungry[/b] in SC with 2 mares. A Palace Malice Son with one start and zero wins who entered stud as a 3yo.
-Candy Medaglia in PR got 2 mares. Candy Ride x Gold Medal Dancer, 3 starts with one win, entered stud as a 3yo.
-Caught On You in TX got 2 mares. Into Mischief son 1-for-1 on the track.
-Cmte Filiberto, unplaced son of Console with 2 mares in PR.
-Home Sick, son of Into Mischief out of an Uncle Mo mare, seems to have recovered from being vanned off in his last start in April of 2024 to breed 2 mares in FL.
-Justafever, Justify son bred 2 mares in KY. 0-for-1 but recently started recording workouts again?
-Keepcalmncruiseon 3yo with 2 mares in MB. His 2 lifetime starts were in May and June of this year so idk if he was bred before or after them.
-U S S Moonpie 2 mares in AR. 3yo Unraced son of Cyber Secret.
-Dusty Hill in AR got 1 mare. Winning son of Oxbow standing at his breeder's place.
-Firestorm Dancer, a horse who isn't even on Pedigree Query, got 1 mare in KY as a 2yo. Fence jumper?
-Glamordini, 1 mare in LA. 0-for-4 son of Bernardini entered stud as a 3yo.
-King Jursiah, 1 mare in the Virgin Islands. I can find no information about this horse other than that he's a 2020 son of Game On out of Puerto Rican mare Lady Rotary.
-Provisional (Justify x Bubbler), 1 mare in KY before he was moved to Uruguary in July of 2024.
-Ray's Big Boy, 1 mare in AR. 0 for 14 on the track, son of Jonesboro. What's the deal with Arkansas lol
-Zipped Code, I don't actually know if this is his first year at stud but it's the first year I've seen him have a RMB (1 mare, in FL). Son of City Zip with 15 wins in 86 lifetime starts, raced to age 10.

Other notables to me:
-Denis of Cork only 2 mares? He was leading or close to leading sire in WV for a while and he's not *that* old.
-Silent Name with 51 in Ontario is pretty good.
-Star Guitar and especially Marking seem like they could move to Kentucky. Especially glad to see Star Guitar get so much love from breeders.
-Why is Nashville. Why.
