Girvin got his first Stakes Winner when Devious Dame took the Astoria at Belmont. I think Girvin is the first US based freshman sire to get SW this year.

Mendelssohn colt Fadethenoise was a bitter dissapointment on debut yesterday finishing 11 of 11.

Maybe not a dirt horse. Mendelsssohn didnt set the world alight on dirt.

Cracksman had another winner today first time out 2 year old Dance In The Grass 20/1

He certainly wasn't bad. 2nd and 3rd in Major Grade 1s and don't forget his UAE Derby....
He was a precocious juvenile so I kind of expected to see his 2yr old come out running.

If you watched the replay of Fadethenoise's race, I think it is one you can draw a line through and hope for better luck next time. A horse got loose before the race but after he was loaded, they had to stand in the starting gate for a very long time. He broke a tiny bit slower than the others which put him in a bad spot and he had to be taken back twice not long after the start. He ended up near the back of the pack, then had to go 8 wide into the stretch and just didn't have anything left. It was just bad luck all around for him. Not saying he is going to be a world beater but the way he was working, I think he would have done alot better than 11th.

Lion Of War wins on debut tonight at Leicester giving Roaring Lion his first winner.

It didnt appear to be a strong race but he did it nicely.

Mendelssohn was precocious enough, but not extraordinarily so. He got good later in the fall of his juvenile year, culminating in his BC Juvenile Turf victory.

Roaring Lion got his 2nd winner in Swift Lioness at Lingfield this afternoon.

Was running green but the penny started to drop a furlong out and got up to win 1/2 length.

Nice Prospect.

Both the winners are trained by Mark and Charlie Johnston.

Hayes.
