I'll Have Another(USA)(Flower Alley) sired his first turf-graded stakes winner in Japan, as his 3yo colt Win Marvel(JPN) [o/o Cosmo Marvelous(JPN) by Fuji Kiseki(JPN)] won impressively the G3 Aoi Stakes 1200m turf at Chukyo on May 28th 2022.

Win Marvel looks very good.
The Aoi Stakes he won is the only turf graded stakes on sprint that is restricted to the 3yos in Japan.
I would love to see him run in the G1 Sprinters Stakes in Autumn.

They have never sent a horse back once pensioned. He'll stay there. He is their horse and they obviously love him and treat him like a king.

They have never sent a horse back once pensioned. He'll stay there. He is their horse and they obviously love him and treat him like a king.

yeah i'm grateful he has no return policy. he is clearly very loved and will continue to live a wonderful life, i believe it'd be sad for both the horse and the team if he ended up sent back home for pensioning. i wonder if there's anywhere we can get more frequent updates on him, like Facebook or Instagram?

This is the same stud that also stood Sea Hero, correct? If I recall, he lived to be 29 and held the title of oldest living Kentucky Derby winner for quite a while.

Sea Hero was at Karacabey Stud but yeah the TJK owned him until his death in 2019.

That young man looks mighty fine. I can't ever think about him without recalling poor Real Quiet though. Count me among those who do not have a problem with horses remaining abroad when pensioned as long as they are safe and well cared for. I'm not at all sure that it was a good idea to bring Charismatic back to the states at his age and remove him from safe and familiar surroundings. In my humble opinion, Charismatic was home. Happy birthday VG !

Of the three notable stallions sent back from Japan to Old Friends (Charismatic, War Emblem, Silver Charm), only Silver Charm is still with us. Charismatic died less than two months after being shipped to Old Friends. War Emblem made it through five years but, before he could settle in at OF, the poor horse had to be gelded at a senior age. Because whoever decided to import a stallion infamous for refusing to breed was apparently ignorant of regulations stipulating that an imported stud had to breed test mares to determine if he was carrying an infectious disease.

Alysheba, 24, was brought back from Saudi Arabia in October 2008. He was dead by March of the following year.
WHY does anyone think it's a good idea to uproot senior stallions from longtime homes and transport them across the world...long, hard trips even for young, fit racehorses?
