Am I the only one that notices quite a few Pletcher horses have those marks? (and they just give me the squirms) El Padrino off the top of my head was another who had it done.
Verrazano has some fat ugly ankles.

Oasis Dream is looooong in the back.
My favourite is Bated Breath.
Same here. Frankel still doesn't do it for me. He has quite the rear and it just doesn't seem to go with the rest of him.

He's had it since before the Kentucky Derby.mariasmon wrote:It's freeze firing.Della wrote:Pinfiring on that left fore? I didn't realize that was still done -- really?
Once upon a time there was a horse named Kelso.

Stephanie's Kitten has freeze firing on her left front, pretty much the same spot as Verrazano. It's apparently not as uncommon as we might've thought, but perhaps certain trainers favor it more than others.
I think Verrazano may have injured that leg more than once, based on the look of it. It seems they are doing something farrier-wise to compensate, as that hoof is trimmed differently from his other front hoof, which exaggerates the angle of his pastern a bit. Having said that, his right front hoof also looks like it has had some trouble. It's not overly apparent from the photo posted, but it appears to have had a lot of farrier work done to it. I think it's one of those soft, shelly hooves and Equilox is its friend right now. I'll be interested to see him a year from now. They've done wonders with Lookin at Lucky's clubfoot.

A few years ago we had a few horses stabled in Pletcher's barn at Monmouth. A lot of the horses in the barn had firing marks.Kay16 wrote:Della wrote:Pinfiring on that left fore? I didn't realize that was still done -- really?

I know Juddmonte is a top breeding operation, but...man, Cacique is homely.
Not the first...or 20th...stallion I would choose for my mare, based just on looks.

Not even remotely in person. Drop dead gorgeous. He had a whole group of us drooling years ago when he was at Keeneland.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I know Juddmonte is a top breeding operation, but...man, Cacique is homely.

I think Cacique, Dansili and Champs Elysees all look very similar in those pics. Can definitely see a strong family resemblance.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I know Juddmonte is a top breeding operation, but...man, Cacique is homely.

I totally agree. Their builds are all quite similar.Flanders wrote:I think Cacique, Dansili and Champs Elysees all look very similar in those pics. Can definitely see a strong family resemblance.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I know Juddmonte is a top breeding operation, but...man, Cacique is homely.

They're almost painful to look at, and it isn't because of the horses. Someone got a little trigger-happy on the sharpness.mariasmon wrote:Cacique is quite good looking in person. I think those photos are mostly awful.

Not official obviously, but:
Ruler of the World
and Australia
Watched a video of them parading, and much more impressed by ROTW than Australia, who appears quite small and slight at this point. Not going to be a big horse even when he's done growing I don't think.

Maybe it's the photo, but Australia's head looks too big for his body...makes him look like a pony.
