The A.P. Indy line is definitely a source of stamina. Plus Essential Quality has three grandsons of Secretariat in his third generation. Stamina galore in EQ.

Honestly, I would say that the Belmonts of the past 20 years have required less stamina and just decent gallop rhythm which is why so many have been won on the front end and so few closers have gotten anywhere close at the end. It is like horses that win the Cup races and St. Legers in Europe are no where to be found in the 12f top races. It is also why Tapit can sire 4 Belmont winners, but can't get a Derby, Preakness, Travers, or Classic winner.

I’m surprised by the American pedigrees. Aren’t most of the horses in Sweden bred in Europe?JohannaSwe wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 2:14 pm No Short Cuts by Will Take Charge won the Swedish Derby Trial

Swedish racing is more American style with the majority of races on dirt, not much of a choice when the grass season only is 4-5 months. The derby and oaks are both over a 1 1/2 miles on the dirt.HB1994 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 2:17 pmI’m surprised by the American pedigrees. Many are bred in Europe but with more American pedigrees though. Around 200 foals are born each year in Sweden. Swipe stands here and the champion sire for many years was Eishin Dunkirk by Mr Prospector.

Interesting to see SW Believe In Royalty (Tapit x Believe You Can) bred 34 mares in Puerto Rico last fall.
I also discovered Baletmeister (Pulpit), a MG1W in Russia who has been breeding mares in Florida.

Thank you so much for the info!Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 9:59 pmSo this isn't quite answering your question. But since he only covered mares in the US in 2018 (breeding stats from JC say he covered 25 mares and had *14 live foals). He has 87 foals of racing age. So he has *73 Southern Hemisphere 2yos.
*the number of foals might be off in the US, if registered late. I can't double check it because he isn't showing up on the Freshman sire list on Bloodhorse yet. If that number is off then his Southern Hemisphere number of foals would adjust accordingly.

I just realized that because he was exported, he wont ever show up on the Freshman sire list. That is something they changed maybe last year when they changed the lists. So I guess those rough numbers are it.firehorse wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 8:52 pmThank you so much for the info!Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 9:59 pmSo this isn't quite answering your question. @ Tachyon, I know this isn't the thread for it, but do you know of any way to keep up with 2YOs in Japan? A few of my favorite mares have been sent to Japan and have 2YOs on the ground, and I would love to follow them before they hit the races. Something similar to Equibase's virtual stable?

Hi Katie, I got a similar question from other poster before.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:49 am @ Tachyon, I know this isn't the thread for it, but do you know of any way to keep up with 2YOs in Japan? Please find my answers in the link below:

There's no Equibase-type ''virtual stable'' services for the Japanese racing, unfortunately.
But umanity could be helpful to some extent...
And, if you could give me your favorite mares' names (in open thread or by private message), I will be happy to try to find something.

Old Topper has passed away. This article has a conformation shot of him and he was very pretty. Looks very quarter-horsey though.

I don't see QH, I see an older stallion with a typical stallion neck.Mylute wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 7:07 pm Old Topper has passed away. This article has a conformation shot of him and he was very pretty. Looks very quarter-horsey though.

Old Topper never sired a superstar but he got sound, hard-knocking runners, several of whom raced into their teenage years. Sad to see another of the Damascus line gone.

Honestly its crazy how fast a line can go away. The line was prevalent in Kentucky in the 90s when I really started following horse racing. There were sons and grandsons and great grandsons, and then fast forward 30 years and its been gone from Kentucky for what feels like 15-20 years.

Drefong(USA)(Gio Ponti) sired his first winner, when his 2yo filly Hyams Beach(JPN)[o/o Yukichan(JPN) by Kurofune(USA)] won debut at Tokyo 5R 1400m turf Newcomer on June 12th 2021.
If I'm not wrong, Drefong becomes the first stallion in the horseracing history whose first winner is white.

First winner I believe for Mr. Z (Malibu Moon) is ARGON ASQUIFAR (c. o/o Muffin Top, by Brahms) in Mexico. 1000 meters on dirt.
