I own a MRH microshare in a two year old colt by Justify out of a Galileo mare, so it's encouraging to see several of them booked to him. Thanks.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

i vote for Galileo Town and Cat War.

Gal About Town would be nice if the first one's a filly but Fipke would probably go with Galileo's Speight because he doesn't do clever names.

Very interested to see how the Into Mischiefs or Gun Runners will fare on Irish turf. Also wouldnt be surprised to see a couple foals out of the tier 2 Coolmore mares (aka not the Winters or Tuesdays) be sold as yearlings.

Yeah, they've really leaned hard into Into Mischief and Gun Runner. Into Mischief is currently no. 2 on the 2023 Turf Sires by Progeny Earnings chart (Gun Runner is 57th), so while I'm not sure about Irish turf, at least he's a safer bet.

Nothing is reported. And considering pretty much every farm that has a stallion they might use on her has submitted their RMBs, I'd say she got a year off.

It now sounds like that Kitasan Black(JPN), the sire of Equinox(JPN), covered 270 mares this year.
This isn't great news at all, if that number is really true.
Many Japanese fans are expressing disappointment on racing boards right now.
Last year, Shadai Stallion Station seemed to have limited the number of mares bred to their respective stallions to 200 after early deaths of Deep Impact, King Kamehameha and Duramente.

Shadai doesn't want to learn after all???

oh... uh oh. besides the early death, you'd have thought the overflow of Sunday Silence/Deep Impact blood would've also taught them a lesson, especially given Kitasan Black is by a full to Deep Impact... big yikes.

Actually Kitasan Black is the most proven & promising stallion right now after the passing of Duramente (King Kamehameha) I really loved.
I love Kitasan Black, too, and strongly hope that he will live long.

TWO-HUNDRED and SEVENTY?
That's a lot, even by Spendthrift standards. Were they all on Northern Hemisphere time, or were they at least spread out a bit breeding mares on Southern H. time? :?
I'm a fan of Kitasan Black, loved watching him race, and I'm very pleased with how well he's doing at stud.....BUT. That is too many mares, at least if you'd like him to have a long life.

The Southern Hemisphere breeding season would just be starting. They would have all been Northern Hemisphere breedings.

Yes.
Shadai's official numbers will be released before too long.
If the number for Kitasan Black is correct (I hope it isn't, but..), Shadai will have to be booed loudly by the fans in Japan.

Here's a link to one of the fans' message boards.
This is in Japanese. But one may see what's been discussed by the fans through a translator.

Shadai doesn't want to learn after all???
Wasn't the damage to Deep Impact's neck due to overuse from jumping mares? I can't remember if it was ever put in writing by Shadai, but I remember them sounding very sheepish when he died about how this will change their protocols/book sizes in the future.

In 2019, Eisuke Tokutake, spokesman of Shadai Stallion Station, didn't deny the possibility that excessive coverings could result in Deep Impact's neck problem. But nothing was put in writing by Shadai.
And Eisuke Tokutake reportedly hinted at their intension to limit the numbers bred recently (after the death of Duramente at only 9). But, once again, nothing was put in writing.
So Shadai had not announced any change of their breeding policy officially, anyway.
But when they released their 2022 numbers (please see above), racing fans in Japan (including myself) thought that Shadai finally started to limit the number to 200, but....

The causal relationship between excessive coverings and stallion's early deaths is not yet scientifically proven.
But most racing fans in Japan hope that stud farms will limit book size to reasonable levels.
I hope so, too.
Let's see their official numbers later.

-- record numbers-of-mares-bred by Shadai's top stallions:

Lord Kanaloa : 294 mares (in 2018)
Duramente : 290 mares (in 2018) -- died at 9 in 2021
King Kamehameha : 266 mares (in 2010 and 2011) -- died at 18 in 2019
Deep Impact 264 mares (in 2013) -- died at 18 in 2019
