Civil War(JPN)(War Emblem) has been retired from stud duty after covering 13 mares last year.
He will be pensioned at Shirai Bokujo (Farm), Hokkaido.

He is definitely not the most desirable horse, conformation wise.
Is this the norm in Japan, retiring a stallion from stud duty after a season or two if they're unpopular?
It sure doesn't deter regional breeders in the US from continuing to breed stallions.

He was gelded in 2018 after covering 2 mares, only one of which had a foal. O Wholly Knight is his only foal, a 2019 colt, who is unraced.

Civil War had been standing at Breeders Stallion Station that has recruited many new stallions for this year including Fierement(JPN)(Deep Impact), Just a Way(JPN)(Heart's Cry) and Four Wheel Drive(USA)(American Pharoah).
I wonder if that's one of the main reasons why Civil War had to leave.
It's a shame, but, it does look like Shirai Farm where he will retire to is a wonderful place and they say he will join in Shirai's Fuji Horse Riding Club, too.
Shirai Farm is open to visitors and fans may visit him and even ride the son of the legendary War Emblem!

Breeders Stallion Station held its 2021 Stallion Parade on Feb 3rd 2021.
Black Tide(JPN)(Sunday Silence), Just a Way(JPN)(Heart's Cry), Fierement(JPN)(Deep Impact), Leontes(JPN)(King Kamehameha) etc.
Four Wheel Drive(USA)(American Pharoah) was not seen in the parade, as he is scheduled to arrive at stud in early March.

Quick update on @spendthriftfarm stallions BOOKED FULL- Authentic, Bolt d’Oro, Into Mischief, and Malibu Moon. This week finishing up Brody’s Cause and Omaha Beach (less than 5 spots). Next week Goldencents, Mitole, and Vekoma. Thousand Words 25 spots or so left then Vino & Max.

Just finished sales report for week, the following stallions are full. Authentic, Bolt d’Oro, Brodys Cause, Into Mischief, Malibu Moon, Omaha Beach, and Vekoma. The next stallions getting close are Goldencents, Maximus Mischief, Mitole, and Thousand Words. @spendthriftfarm

I guess that to the 200+ mare owners each going to Thousand Words, Maximus Mischief, Brody's Cause, etc. don't mind that the stallion will be in South America, Korea, Turkey, or Saudi Arabia in two years.

I know I know that any stallion can end up like the next War Front or Tapit but the lower bracket of stallions at Spendthrift are given about 20 minutes to make it big or they're on the next boat out of here.
