Kurofune(USA), 1998H. French Deputy(USA) x Blue Avenue(USA) by Classic Go Go(USA), died of old age at Shadai Stallion Station where he had been pensioned on Jan 17th 2021.
He was the JRA dirt champion in 2001 and the sire of seven individual G1 winners at stud including 2020 champion juvenile white filly Sodashi(JPN).
He was an excellent broodmare sire, too, represented most recently by 2020 Hong Kong Cup winner Normcore(JPN) and 2020 Arima Kinen winner Chrono Genesis(JPN).
R.I.P. great horse.

So sorry to learn of Kurofune's passing. He was my favorite Japanese racehorse, followed closely by Symboli Kris S.

I'd really be curious to know what kind of mares Vekoma is getting. World of talent and great pedigree, but I would think that paddling action would put off a lot of breeders.

I tried to make a post really similar to what you said on PaulickReport but they didn't allow it to be posted. I wasn't rude either, in my opinion. I just said that his action was horrific.

I found this article which suggests at pp 28-31 that toeing in, which leads to paddling, is among the least heritable traits in horse breeding.

That's good to know. I hope Vekoma is successful and the paddling is not a common trait in his offspring.

Breakway Farm in Indiana also did a show in September. It's a video pinned to their Facebook page. Much more laid back but I enjoyed seeing Calculator all filled out!

Aurelius Maximus (Pioneerof the Nile–La Reina, by A.P. Indy) has been retired to stud at Red River Farm in Louisiana. He is a G2Spw, he however only made 8 starts from 2-4, with a 13 month and another 9 month gap between races. He seemed talented but never really got to show himself at the top level.

What should be more concerning is that it is not just Vekoma in particular, there are an awful lot of Candy Rides with similar issues.

Nothing yet but I wouldn't be surprised if he is exported to Saudi Arabia to stand. He doesn't have a new export with the Jockey Club yet, I've checked a couple times since he was retired so maybe they are trying to find him a stud deal in the US.

It hasn’t stopped them from becoming successful runners and sires, though

But we don't know how many were paddlers and were not successful in part due to that. But as you implicitly note, it hasn't stopped breeders or buyers.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
