And this adorable little guy is by Authentic and out of GSW Antipathy. He was about three days old. I thought the milk all over his whiskers was adorable.

Our guide at Gainsborough couldn't have been nicer. I am a big Ashado fan and asked about seeing her. I figured it would be from a distance, but our guide let us out and gave us peppermints ("because someone in this group is desperate to see Ashado"), and Ashado and her friends moseyed on over. Ashado was a sweetheart -- she seemed to love the attention. She's turned out in a group of retired broodmares including Folk, Round Pond, Perceive, and Calla Lilly.

They also still have Hatoof -- she was turned out in the front with a 29-year-old mare, and although she was a little thin, she looked remarkable for being 34.
I was just there yesterday on my 3rd Gainsborough visit. Was only there to see my favorite, Balletto, who was actually with Hatoof. Shes 21, last foal was born last year.

Hatoof actually has her full brother the next paddock over. His name is Irish Prize, I think he is 27.

Thanks for the correction on who was turned out with Hatoof! Was a little hard to hear our guide from the back because her microphone was broken. :) (And I'm hard of hearing on top of that.) I'm glad you got to see Balletto.

Irish Prize was whinnying and trying to get everyone's attention. :)

Here are a couple more.

Not This Time x Dubai Life (Dubawi). This one was just born the night before and our guide wasn't sure if the foal was a filly or colt.

ImageDSC_9592

And the mare is Rose Sapphire, but I'm not sure who the foal's sire is. I'm a little hard of hearing (thanks chemo...) so unfortunately I sometimes miss things.

Thanks, Twilight Tear. That last photo looks like Horse Heaven for sure.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Glad everyone enjoyed the photos! :) I loved getting to see the foals up close. Gainsborough is a beautiful facility (definitely heaven for horses), and our guide couldn't have been nicer. And meeting Ashado was so awesome. She is one of my favorites of all time, and I never dreamed I'd get to pet her and feed her peppermints. She couldn't have been sweeter and seemed to really love the attention.

(I am doing okay. I am in remission from cancer now -- it just took a LOT of chemo to get there. The trade-off of getting to still be here is definitely worth the annoyance of not being able to hear as well as most people.)

My friends mare delivered a clubhouse ride foal earlier tonight. It was a rough foaling and he ended up having to euthanize the mare due to complications. Foal seems ok so far

I'll pass it on to him thanks. They bottle fed the baby and have found an available nurse mare. They're currently in the process of introducing the mare and foal so hopefully they take to each other
