His runners have been doing OK, from those I've seen, but IIRC his yearlings didn't draw big bids at the recent Keeneland Sale. I'd hate to see Coolmore give up on DofW just because the commercial market is slavish about buying the Into Mischiefs, Tapits and War Fronts.
That's what I was wondering. The article says that he will stand there in 2019, it doesn't specify if it is a lease or outright sale. He has been a pretty decent sire so far, but I'm getting shades of Henrythenavigator with him.

Lease to own perhaps?
I wonder if Coolmore is trying to get a feel for the Japanese market... they don’t have a Japanese division and they’ve been doing more business with Shadai than ever.

After all, Godolphin has a Japanese division...

Well I guess that he was sold to JBBA.

JBBA didn't say in its official statement (Japanese) below that DofW would stand on a lease.
Therefore, most of the Japanese fans here may beleive that JBBA bought this stallion.

Kate Hunter believe so, too.

It's been rare that JBBA introduces stallions on a lease.
And when JBBA introduced The Factor, JBBA specified in its statelmet that he would come on a lease.

But, once again, I can't be 100% sure about if DofW was sold to JBBA yet at this point.
It's hard to know what kind of deal has been made between the sender and the receiver in this business, unless one is an insider.

Suspensory Infection Cost Maryland Sire Super Ninety Nine His 2018 Breeding Season
The 8-year-old son of Pulpit spent four months at Fair Hill Equine Therapy Center in Elkton, Md., stemming from a few minor scrapes he acquired late last year that developed into some minor swelling. He did not begin to show signs of lameness until he first started covering mares in February and blew out an abscess.

~ Months ago there was an article on DRF about how like one stallion in France and Tiznow were the only male-line descendants of Man O' War at stud (ignoring Bal a Bali and In Summation). Here's another descendant of Man O' War now at stud (via Put It Back).

Are Officer and Successful Appeal still active? They're both tail-male Man o' War descendants too, as are their sons (e.g. J.P.'s Gusto).

Officer was sold in 2010 to Korea. I haven't found any updates on the now nineteen-year-old stallion.

Korea studbook is quite helpful. Officer covered 74 mares in 2017 which is fairly good over there

I always had a soft spot for Officer as a Cal-bred. I'm still scratching my head over Baffert running him in a Cal-bred stakes what, just a week after the BCJ? Burned out for sure.

Thanks for the info, Rugbygirl, and the photo.

According to BH, they are, but they are up in years (and Officer is in South Korea). Officer has a son in New York, Boys at Tosconova, who has been getting winners left and right from small crops IIRC.

I'll link the article here. I guess he was talking about how there's no male line Man O' Wars in the popular commercial market. He said that Tiznow has yet to have a top son at stud, but he also ignored that many of his sons are very young stallions or were exported because they didn't have Uncle Mo numbers.

https://www.drf.com/news/sparkman-man-o ... coming-end

EDIT: I had this post in the drafts for when I got better internet, and in that time some responses about Officer were posted that didn't come up when I posted it. That's why I repeated info.

23yo Mystic Replica (Babamist x Taleisin's Song by Judge J B) is still an active stallion, and the only stallion tail-male to Man O'War not through In Reality. He is quite an accomplished sire/grandsire of event horses but unfortunately has mostly been bred to warmblood mares.
