TVG showed a video which is also on Coolmore's FB page about their shuttle stallions, explaining the process and the precautions taken. American Pharoah looks great.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Ramsey Says He’s Intent on Standing Kitten’s Joy in Europe
http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/ra ... in-europe/Saying that he’s unhappy with the prices paid for the offspring of Kitten’s Joy (El Prado {Ire}) at the Keeneland September sale, owner Ken Ramsey said Thursday he is in the process of making plans that will lead to his star sire standing next year in Europe and finishing out his stallion career overseas. Ramsey said he believed that Kitten’s Joy, who is known primarily for producing top-class turf horses, will fare better on a continent where the vast majority of the races are run on the grass.
Ramsey told the Thoroughbred Daily News that he is in the process of finding a European breeding farm to go in with him as a partner, and if the right deal can be struck, Kitten’s Joy will soon be on his way across the Atlantic.
“You don’t know how determined a fellow I can be, and this is what I want to do,” he said. “When I get it in my head to do something, I get it accomplished. I think there’s a 90% chance that we’ll be able to strike a good deal with someone over there and that he will be sent to Europe.”

I wonder if Shadwell might be an option? IIRC, they have had success with their KJ colt, Hawkbill.
If KJ is being valued less here than he might be in Europe, it makes sense for Ramsey to move his beloved stallion. Not just for the money, but also for the horse's legacy. We might see the best crop KJ has ever produced after he's been breeding to top Euro turf mares (being optimistic here ) for a few years.
And he's already had Eclipse Award-winning offspring. Better could be epic.

Why? Do you think KJ would be ignored in the Euro market? Or at best, supported weakly?

The yearlings by KJ in Europe haven't sold significantly differently than those offered in the US. If someone can name me some stallions who've been relocated from the US to Europe and have done as well or better than they did here, I might change my mind. But I don't think any recent examples exist.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Why? Do you think KJ would be ignored in the Euro market? Or at best, supported weakly?

Yea in my opinion, it’s not a good move either. He’s not competing against many turf sires here, but if he goes to Europe, he’ll be against the likes of Galileo, Dubawi, Frankel, etc

Maybe it would be a positive for KJ that his Sadler's Wells blood comes down through El Prado, a different line than the ubiquitous Galileo?

Yes he has found what mares nick well with his stallion BUT the majority that he breeds to Kitten's Joy have little on their sale page. No one is going to pay top price for a yearling that has a weak female family or is the first foal of a mare that won a claiming race. He doesn't get that part. In that article he compares Kitten's Joy to War Front but he doesn't seem to realize that it is the combination of War Front and the mares he was bred to that result in the high prices. For some reason he thinks the stallion is the only part of the equation that matters.

Del Mar Futurity winner Bolt d'Oro has a stallion deal with Spendthrift.

A stallion deal for a two-year-old, before his freshman season is even over? I've gotten used to Coolmore signing up all the Juvenile Eclipse Champions, but a deal several months before the end of the year? And he's only raced twice.
Oy.

Well lets hope he gets to race at 3. With his pedigree, he wasn't going to race beyond 3 anyway.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Del Mar Futurity winner Bolt d'Oro has a stallion deal with Spendthrift.

I've noticed in Europe the past couple seasons a couple good 2yos being retired to stud to start stud at 3, with no injury or anything.

And the last two years, these retired-sound two year olds have topped the "Report of Mares Bred" for Freshman sires in England/Ireland, so expect it to continue to happen, thanks Al Shaqab

Not that they're saying that Bolt d'Oro won't race on at 3/4/5.

In all fairness, Coolmore might have snatched him up by the end of the year or early next year if no one else inked a deal now. And with a pedigree like that, the competition would've been fiercer.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Del Mar Futurity winner Bolt d'Oro has a stallion deal with Spendthrift.
