RIP Storm Flag Flying....I know the likelihood is low but it would be great if the newborn filly turns out to be a really good one.
It always seems like there is a terrible string of deaths every year and hopefully it ends soon because its painful to log on and see another has passed.

I know. This one made me really sad. I love the Lemon Drop Kid offspring; she was so young and the foal is gone too.Ioya Two wrote:Yeah, and the foal was lost as well. That's awful, they've been dropping like flies lately.

I have a question...in the wake of this tragedy, I had to wonder if Frankel's very high fee is comes with the usual "Stands and Nurses" qualifier. And will SM's owners at least not have to suffer the loss of their beloved mare, her foal AND Frankel's small-fortune stud fee?

Very few stallions ever stand for no guarantee. If they booked to him in the normal fashion, his fee is stands live foal.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I have a question...in the wake of this tragedy, I had to wonder if Frankel's very high fee is comes with the usual "Stands and Nurses" qualifier. Most seasons sold in the private market or at a stallion season auction will be no guarantee.

I know winter always brings a lot of euthanizing of seniors and loss of mares while they foal, but 2016 just seems extra terrible.Starine wrote:Grade I winner Somali Lemonade dies

This really sucks! I agree, not liking 2016 so far. RIP and condolences to those who loved and cared for Somali Lemonade.Northport wrote:I know winter always brings a lot of euthanizing of seniors and loss of mares while they foal, but 2016 just seems extra terrible.Starine wrote:Grade I winner Somali Lemonade dies

Wave goodbye to another top race mare, as Lovely Maria has headed off to join a Japanese broodmare band.

What a funny mare. After snorting her opinion into her handler's ear (I bet that tickled), it looked like she happily positioned her rump next to the fence..."scratch my butt, please."

Her version of "sweet nothings" haha. And Ann obliged her too.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:What a funny mare. After snorting her opinion into her handler's ear (I bet that tickled), it looked like she happily positioned her rump next to the fence..."scratch my butt, please."
