Hard to be sure. I think American Pharoah might've missed some days in the shed. Maybe the mare missed the first time and then they decided to swap seasons with one of their other mares. Or they retired one from the track late and wanted to swap. I know War Front's fertility isn't always the best, so that could've been an issue.
