Speaking of Apapane, how is she doing, tachyon, do you know? Have any of her foals raced yet?

Obviously not tachyon, but her first foal, a colt by Deep Impact is a yearling. She was bred back to him for a 2015 foal but I don't know if she foaled.lurkey mclurker wrote:Speaking of Apapane, how is she doing, tachyon, do you know? Have any of her foals raced yet?

Thank you Flanders, I couldn't find any info on Pedigree Query so I wasn't sure when she first foaled. Can't wait to see her Deep Impact colt in another year or two!

Japan's most popular Gold Ship passed a gate test on May 29, (as you had expected).hadrianmarcus wrote:On a trip to Japan a couple years ago, I went out with some friends who were also big horse racing fans. I asked them who was their favorite horse, Gentildonna or Orfevre. Everyone
of them responded Gold Ship. He's really popular. Going back to Oguri Cap, the successful greys have been fan favorites. Stay Gold's sons tend to be a handful. Orfevre was temperamental, Gold Ship runs when and as fast as he wants to, even Ash Gold (Orfevre's full) seems to inherited the hardheaded trait.
After the Tenno Sho, being cooled off and lead back by grooms, Gold Ship still had enough energy to be kicking. But given his popularity, I can't see Japanese authorities banishing its most popular horse from it's All-Star race, starting gate antics and all.
And JRA announced today that Gold Ship got the most votes once again in the fans ballot for the Takarazuka kinen.
It looks like that the ''Grey Ghost Gangster'' (haha!) is right on course to defend his Takarazuka Kinen title for three consecutive years.

On the other hand, Epiphaneia, 2nd in the fans ballot, will miss the Takarazuka due to a suspensory ligament injury, unfortunately.

He is at Northern Horse Park.
It's sad that Marathon runners can't be popular at stud even in Japan.
All what you need is speed, speed and speed.
That's a global trend....
Meiner Kitz (2009 Tenno Sho Spring winner) --> riding horse at Equine Museum of Japan
Beat Black (2012 Tenno Sho Spring winner) --> lead horse at Kyoto Racecourse.
(But I sometimes wonder if they are living happier lives than the BUSY stallions now )

Wow... not that he shouldn't have a second career (not convinced jumping it is though ) but I was just surprised. I wonder if they gelded him?
What a lucky rider to get to sit on him though... (even when he clearly wants the rider OFF! )

Manhattan Cafe(JPN)[1998H. o/o Subtle Change(IRE) by Law Society(USA)], champion older male in 2002 and champion sire in 2009, passed away on August 13th 2015.
He, one of the greatest sons of Sunday Silence, looked so much like his sire.
And it is widely remembered by the fans that he played the roll of Sunday Silence when Fuji TV Network released a film about Zenya Yoshida's encounter with Sunday Silence after the passing of the greatest stallion in Japanese breeding history.
