Is he a thoroughbred?!?!
I'm glad you said this, 'cause I was thinking the same thing. I just didn't want to come out and say it. ;)

I said it. Page 23, 2nd post down, I said he looked like a Quarterhorse. :P
If he is a TB, and he had any sort of speed, he looks like the sort of stallion QH breeders would love, especially with the butt on him.

Skylord is a 1/2 brother to GSW Sky Cape. Afleet Express is not attractive in person. AT ALL. Nice job by whoever took that photo, because he's unfortunate. I don't normally say that kind of thing here, but I think it's pretty widely known.

I tracked down a yearling photo I had of Skylord.

What is it with Ice Box's left front?

No clue. I definitely noticed that when I saw Ice Box in person. He's also either clubfooted on that one or has some very interesting farrier work.

HDR?
Re: Crossbow...the horse is a bit short in the legs, but standing him in fetlock-deep grass doesn't help. There is also something almost antique in his looks...sort of like a Hambletonian or Hanover era horse. Good bone, slightly long in the body.
Basically they applied a ridiculous filter to Blake's Passion's photo so he looks weird.

Pretty sure it's just a roany marking on Ice Box, if that's what you're talking about.

You're right. He's certainly a throwback to that part of his sire line.

Yeah, Crossbow looks A LOT like Quiet American. So does Bernardini, but more refined.

My nominee for WORST CONFORMATION SHOT EVER (at least we are 90% sure this is intended to be a conformation photo): 6yo South Stream (Smarty Jones x Shy Eda (ARG) by Shy Tom). Ran in Russia, and is apparently now standing there.

I've actually seen worse. I hate Photoshop- they could easily erase a bowed tendon or a grapefruit ankle.
He has quite a long neck, and looks a bit over at the knee. He almost looks like an Akhal Teke (spelling?).

Ice Box looks club footed. Crossbow has short cannon bones, and holy cr*p, does he ever look like a power house.

Ha, yeah, that backround with the sun and clouds is something you would see in a picture of Jesus, lol.

Quite the looker, IMO.

That's how you pose a stallion! He looks so good that I can almost forgive the hyperbolic Photoshop background.
The only thing that bothers me is that in the graphic artist's zeal to have clean edges on the outline, he/she may have 'trimmed' the legs a bit.

Thank goodness for video. They would photoshop Secretariat if he was alive.

There is nothing about this horse that makes me want to breed anything to him!
