Racing really has the dumbest fans out of any sport. Put in animal in it and people immediately revert to hysterics.

No, but my boyfriend is a Jets fan and so are all of his friends. Not even they're that dumb.

Animals really bring out the best and worst in people.

If you took a shot of bourbon every time you read "greedy owners" in those sort of complaints, you'd have alcohol poisoning pretty quick :roll:
I think you'd be dead in less than 30 minutes, as long as you add in Ferdinand and Exceller comments.

Kind of surprised WinStar sold a stallion before they gave it a few years in Kentucky themselves. Though, like others have said, I was never really taken with the horse.

He'll definitely get some good numbers in his first 2/3 years in Japan, then numbers for the imports, especially the non-Shadai ones, tend to slump if they haven't hit it big by then. Regardless, he will be well taken care of, despite what the loons in the comments have to say :lol:

Makfi himself is a proven sire, too.
And I'm 120% sure that Japanese breeders will be enthusiastic about this new import. ;)

But I think that he will get good interests from Japanese breeders as a rare son of the great Tapit in Japan.
So let's hope his early offsrping will do well.
And, as always, JBBA is a wonderful place for any stallions standing there. ;)

I felt that the Japanese may have taken steps toward stocking those point races at the recent Keeneland yearling sale, because it seemed like there were more colts with dirt pedigrees being bought by Japanese buyers than filly broodmare prospects.

I think you are right.
We saw a Street Sense colt winning in his debut two weeks ago at Hanshin 1400m dirt Newcomer.
Immediately after the race, his trainer mentioned the Kentucky Derby for his goal.
It was obvious that Lani's adventure in this year's TC and the new Kentucky Derby point races in Japan were in that trainer's mind.

That makes sense for the meantime. It also makes sense to buy dirt stallions to try and produce their own for the years down the road.

Battle Plan(USA)[2005H. Empire Maker(USA) x Flanders(USA)] has just sired his first graded winner in Japan, when his 2yo colt Bless Journey(JPN)[o/o Elfin Park(JPN) by Tanino Gimlet(JPN)] won in the G3 Saudi Arabia Royal Cup 1600m turf at Tokyo on Oct 9th 2016!!! :D :D

Logic says - he wasn't going to finish in the top 5 in the Classic *unless* it monsooned.
He's not a very big, strong-looking horse, and I don't picture him improving with age. Like Nyquist I think all of his big races are behind him.
Makes sense. He should be around $25,000.
