He does sire a lot of chestnuts with white markings even though chestnut is apparently considered recessive genetically.

Chrome has had a bunch of winners lately, a couple of whom look like they could step up into stakes company. They have won on both dirt and turf, in the slop and on fast or firm tracks, with one winner on Tapeta at Golden Gate. There is one bay filly named Striking Chrome who has won on both dirt and turf. She has raced 7 times with 3 wins, 1 place and 1 show. She is out of a mare by Smart Strike. Seems like Japanese breeders knew what they were doing when they brought Chrome over because they believed he could sire turf winners. Chrome has a top-level percentage of winners from runners, but no stakes winners yet. A filly named Decade (trained by Steve Asmussen), Striking Chrome and the three crop-leading 2-year-old colts in Chile might change that, hopefully.

Chrome, himself, didn't develop into a major stakes winner until he turned 3. So far, many of his offspring seem to be developing along that same pattern.

It's been stated here that Chrome's better bred US crops have yet to race (crop 2 starts now I guess) so that is also something to watch. They really have been stepping it up lately.

The blowout Indiana winner Charles Chrome was supposed to run in a Churchill stakes but scratched out. He has won on turf and dirt.

You are welcome!
Here's another colt with a large white mark -- I think it's amazing!!!
This colt is a 1/2 brother to Hakusan Moon(JPN)(three-time GSW and three-time G1 placed in Japan -- now a stallion standing at Lex Stud) and Warring States(JPN)(GSW in Germany).

I think this is the first dark bay foal by Chrome I've seen.

Thanks for the link Corridor. It sent me off to looked at pedigrees and try to find videos of those chestnut babies. :D

For fun, I look at Chrome's progeny currently listed in Pedigree Query. 211 foals are listed:
107 are chestnut
92 are bay or dkb/br
6 gray/roan

It is crazy to see the list with no Deep Impact foals and just a few yearlings and no KKs either. Surprised at how few Lord Kanaloa foals compared to others as well, especially when he has plenty of yearlings. Maybe his foals just need more time to mature.

Deep Impact's and King K's last crops may have special value to their owner/breeders, and fewer of them will be sold.

Though Deep Impact died July 2019, he was pulled from service in April 2019. He only ended up covering 24 mares, resulting in 7 foals, with 6 being registered. Two are in Ireland at Coolmore (out of Winter and Minding). With 4 of his progeny in the sale, that would account for all of his last crop bar one.

For anybody interested, looks like Pandorica is up for sale for an off track career.

I actually wondered if that was in the cards after she finished last yesterday. She just doesn't seem to have much interest in racing. Glad they are giving her a chance to get into a new career!

There is also one yearling in the Select Sale. Conceived in United States, dam sold to Japan at KeeNov 2020. His last US-based crop.

ch. c. o/o Rau Breck (Mr. Greeley) - Third dam Ballade, dam half to MG2W Shakis.

I know the definition of "stamp your progeny" doesn't include color but that...might need to change.

Interesting to note again, all colts, all chestnuts.

Ummm...that Rau Breck colt is at a seriously awkward stage. I really hope his front half catches up to his back half. :?

It is nice to see a yearling actually looking like a yearling. I haven't looked at many Japanese yearling sales photos, but, if they don't over exercise and over feed their yearlings to increase their muscle mass and definition, it might be another reason their stock sticks around the racetrack longer.

Oh as for the question of the colors- in Japan, it looks like he has 55 chestnuts, 45 bays, 3 dr br, 2 grays, and 1 foal whose color isn't listed but out of a dk br mare. This includes all his progeny currently in Japan, including those conceived and some born in US.
