Yeah, I saw her in the ring, beautiful, but I thought she would bring more than what she did.

something about the way her body flows going towards her rump just looks off. maybe it's her actual hind end itself?

or maybe she's standing funny or going through a growth stage. she just looks funky.

I agree, I actually don't like her hind end, usually the hind end is higher at this age.

This isn't a racehorse, but saw this online just now and thought it was very cool/worth sharing:

She almost looks like she has a roach back. Very peculiar.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!

Yeah, I'm wondering if he is a rabiciano.

Could be gulastra plume maybe? (I can't remember if it only shows up over the Extension gene or if shows up on chestnuts too).

More pictures could betray the rabi if we can find any white hairs.

This may have been posted already (sorry if it was), but this is 2YO filly Painting The Sky, by Yankee Gentleman o/o Lone Star Quest, currently in training:

What is Painting the Sky's official Jockey Club color? White?

Pedigreequery and Equibase both list her as chestnut, surprisingly...

Chestnut?
That just makes me imagine that whoever got the filly's papers...and her photos...metaphorically threw up their hands, hauled out the Jockey Club Color Wheel Dartboard, and tossed a dart at it. Wherever the dart landed, that was going to be her 'official' registration color.

For a chestnut with dominant white, that's a very black-looking eartip. I would've thought bay, based on that pic. Huh.

The pic on Pedigree Query shows a different angle & just makes me keep thinking bay. But maybe the base coat was more suspect when she was registered...

Another filly. The person who took the picture said her name is Pied and True, but nothing comes up when I search for her on Equibase:

Yeah, that mane sure looks black to me. With both of her parents being bay or whatever the Jockey Club feels inspired to call brown (damside's first chestnut is back four generations!), the cocktail of extension and agouti genes genes swirling around in there just seem too numerous to create a plain ol' chestnut under all that white.

Someone on PedigreeQuery is equally puzzled, as her dam's profile has a note "Dam of 2013 bay (?could be chestnut) dominant White (pinto) filly." Unless that was one of you guys. :D

ETA: Pied and True, wow! Very neat. Looks like a reverse bloody shoulder....so is it a somatic mutation turning "on" the grey gene? Or did someone spill the bleach?
