Creative Cause sired his first stakes winner on Saturday when his filly Theonewewaitedfor(out of SW/MG1Sp Yolo Lady) took the Landaluce S. at Santa Anita. The filly is a homebred for owner Heinz H. Steinmann, who raced both the sire and dam. Trainer Mike Harrington named the filly and also trained her sire and dam.

Tom's Ready to stand at Spendthrift upon retirement. The article doesn't say when that is, so who knows if he races in 2017 or not.

Looks like Duramente will stand at Shadai, they just have to decide whether he will be syndicated or kept private.

Duramente's pedigree is one of the most impressive in Japan as his first three dams are all champions, with his second dam the 1997 Horse of the Year, Air Groove.
Duramente is expected to be sent to the Shadai Stallion Station in a few weeks and thereafter a decision will be made as to whether he will be syndicated for stud duty or whether the Yoshida family will stand him.
Under terms of the arrangements with Sunday Racing Club, the colt will be purchased from club members prior to beginning his new career.

A friend of mine who used to breed Clydesdales and TB x Clyde crosses once lost two of his best mares in a single storm. The lucky one died instantly, the unlucky one was paralysed in all four legs and had to be put down. Imagine the panic she must have experienced.Starine wrote:Lightning strike kills Brilliant Speed

RIP Brilliant Speed, he was a handsome boy, and it's a horrible, freak way to lose a horse.

That's a bummer. For such a great stallion, Dynaformer doesn't really have any sons who look like they can fill his shoes. Temple City is off to a pretty good start though. Here's hoping Point of Entry can get some runners

his stallion page says (said?) the only g1 main track winner by dyna at stud. i didn't believe that and went digging. i was very surprised to see that was true. his intact g1 dirt winners have been... well. not very lucky.
as said before, i'm very optimistic abt temple city.

YOUNG BRIAN was a 2 year old Hard Spun colt of 2015 that ran a freaky good winning maiden race and was later injured in training and retired.
His owner is standing him in Florida for $2000 at Goldmark Farm in Ocala but doesn't appear to be advertising him. The owner sent some mares to him for 2016.
Interesting article with details about some of the mares going to Young Brian.

I'll Have Another(USA) sired his first winner on the dirt, when his 2yo filly I'll Catch You(JPN) o/o Granny Smith(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN) won her debut going 1150m dirt at Fukushima 6R Newcomer on July 16th 2016.

Indian Trail, Uncle Mo's full brother, is standing in Chile at Haras Sumaya. Looks like most of their stallions are from the US (Longboarder, Medina West, Newfoundland, The Mighty Tiger, Timojin, Wildcat Spirit).

So much eye candy... and I would love to know which seven mares from outside Japan were covered by Deep Impact.

They are gorgeous, and it seems to me that the Japanese love their black horses.
However, I wondered about this:
"King Kamehameha, who Shadai has had to carefully manage over the last several seasons after he contracted equine herpes..."
IIRC, equine herpes is contagious, so how do you "manage" that? How do you keep the mares safe from being infected? Is the disease only infectious when there are physical symptoms (lesions)?
I know that humans with herpes can still shed the virus, even when there are no superficial symptoms, but I don't know how similar the human and equine versions of the disease are.
