I just saw Coal Front is supposedly heading to red river farm in Louisiana. It was just a comment on Facebook with no article or anything backing it so unsure if it's true.

Spendthrifts roster is massive and alot of there stallions took massive hits for next season

Authentic was definitely due for a price cut. I was surprised they were able keep his fee so high for so long, but his juveniles have outted him as maybe not the second coming of Into Mischief. He only got better as a three year old though, so things could still turn around big time.

Not having Tamara running this year definitely took the wind out of the Bolt D’Oro sails. Looks like Beholder was doing the heavy lifting in that match up, because Bolt only had one American graded stakes winner this year. I’d definitely hesitate to send a mare to him even at $30,000. His only other graded winner was a G3 winner in Ireland.

Speaking of hesitant to send a mare… godspeed to whoever thinks there is value in Maximus Mischief at that price. Woof.

How many seasons now, including 2025, has Into Mischief been priced at $250K? I keep thinking this will be his 3rd year at that price but Lord knows I could be wrong (I don't know how to find out). I'm just curious because I thought Spendthrift might be inclined to bump him up a little by now as it doesn't seem that his commercial appeal is waning. Of course, it might be that it's not increasing that much either!

With the cutting of Curlin's fee to $225K by H&D Xalapa, Into Mischief is now (again) the most expensive stallion this side of the pond, so maybe Spendthrift feels that the economy in the industry dictates that keeping his fee stable at its high level for as many years as they can is the smart thing to do.

And what I know about it is just about zero! I'm just curious is all! TIA!

Did anyone from spendthrift move? Surprised both Vino Rosso and Authentic took that big of a hit to their fees. Didn’t Vino Rosso just have two runners in the bc and one on the Derby trail?

Basin, Temple City both sitting at 5k has to mean this is their last season before they get the boot?

Sounds like people who don’t understand the breeding business. You can’t just charge a high fee because you feel like it. Unless you’re Calumet 2015-2020.

I’m wondering what Lane’s End will do with Honor A.P. He doesn’t have that many winners, but he’s got a SW and two SP runners...from what I believe was very much not a good first book. He’s now at $10,000...his fee has already dropped twice, I believe, due to generally poor reception at sales and breeders (2 years in a row bred to only 39 mares).

I guess they could drop him to $5,000. I don’t think he deserves a drop, but it might be getting to desperation point - I don’t think he can survive another season breeding to only 39 mares, if for no other reason that in a few years, he’s going to have SO few runners that he won’t be able to make an impact at all.

Coal Front is gone

Temple City and Basin both covered less then 50 mares in 2024 so I am betting them get the boot sometime soon, despite Temple being older.

I think the breeding season after a horse has his first 2 year olds is really scary. Thus the Authentic drop. With the massive push to get to first and second year sires, if a horse doesnt have a really good 2 year old crop, no one will use him. Just a way too dangerous time. The Authentic drop might be enough to encourage some people to use him, but if breeding to sell (which 99% of breeders do) by the time that foal gets to the sale, Authentic could be in Turkey.

I know its way too early to even look at numbers like this, but I dont believe Ive ever seen a horse with a .58 AEI against a 2.71 CI.

How old is Temple City?
Do Spendthrift keep their pensioned stallions? I don’t recall.

Waiting for Coolmore, LE and Three Chimneys. I wonder if Justify or Gun Runner will top Into Mischief?

Temple City is 19, same age as IM.

Thanks! Currently travelling so hard for me to check things. Has he stood at spendthrift his entire breeding career?

With how much Coolmore is milking Justify thus season alone Justify covered more mares then Into Mischief. Though I do hope the sounder Gun Runner takes the mantle eventually.

I think he has, I honestly doubt Spendthrift will boot him.
