Maybe his accountant was finally able to get ahold of him and let him know that buying 187 horses across 4 continents in 11 months has some risks.

There is like no rhyme or reason to it. He buys anything. I looked up the horses he has bought in 2024 and it was everything from 8k horses to ones that cost millions.

187, really in one year? That's nuts.

yeah he started buying last year, I think Keeneland September was the first sale. We didn't know who he was at Fasig Tipton Night of the Stars (November) last year. I believe the 187 is only counting his
racing/bloodstock. He also has trail horses and quite a few rescues.

I would expect foreign buyers to come out in force for some of those blue-blooded mares. Especially the Japanese, who appreciate American mares even more than our stallions.

absolutely. if half of these mares stay here i'll be shocked. america is very big on making sure we don't keep too many interesting breeding prospects and the other countries know it. good for them, tho, our loss.

Yes it is true @resracingky is selling some horses this year at the @keenelandsales and @FasigTiptonCo sale.

We purchased a lot of horses and did not select the breeding for some of them.

We are moving some on and a couple of mares but since we have 187 horses, I assure you this is just an adjustment to our numbers. I bet we end the year over 200 and knowing me we may hit that number by the end of October.

I really want a big pile of cash to go into the breeding stock sale this year.

So we will see what happens….

That almost reads like he bought off of a whim but didnt like the pedigrees of them in hindsight or doesn't want to breed turf horses, and Bianca definitely has a turf pedigree.

Yeah I mean he said he bought 187 horses over the past year plus he bought trail horses, he has rescue horses, so he has easily 200+ horses. I think he went too hard and with no clear vision of what he wanted to do. Because like I said in this thread I think, he has bought everything from 8k horses to ones that I assume were millions (Storm Boy and Goliath), plus million $ yearlings. It sort of feels like he was going by the motto of "horse = yes". and I'm not sure if that is a great business model

Her breeder’s cup result will probably play a big role, but I would guess $2-3 million. She’s of course a star, but a 12f American turf mare really may only be sought after by Coolmore and Japan. Would gladly be proven wrong, though.

I love her to bits, I wouldn't want her to go to Japan, but oddly enough I think if she remains in the sale, she'll go to Japan. Maybe she'll get picked up by her breeder, Calumet (never will happen )

She kind of does, but they have a fair amount of Justifys currently and are about to have around 75 more next year, and who knows how many more after that if he continues on his current trajectory. They usually are big on buying top level outcross mares for their stallions, not so much on doubling down on what they already have access to.

Am I manifesting/projecting that I rather someone like John Stewart or Yulong buys her and keeps racing her? Absolutely.
