I hope Maimonides lands in a decent spot. ATM, the son of Vindication is listed as standing in Ohio for only $2,500.

Interesting. Think the last time I looked him up he wasn't even standing at stud but was just 'on the farm'.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I hope Maimonides lands in a decent spot. ATM, the son of Vindication is listed as standing in Ohio for only $2,500.

Unrelated.....but I had reason to look up Parading the other night. Does anyone know why he was pensioned in 2014, when his 1st crop was jut 3? Is he still at Claiborne?

Thanks guys!
I'd searched on BH and didn't see any articles.
This part made me smile:
"“I think what we’ll do is put him up at the Marchmont stud barn and keep Lure company, and if something hits, he’s still around. That’s the plan for him.”
I'm glad they had the space to just keep him there, vs shipping him off to a Regional market to breed lower end mares. Even with that pedigree, not everything needs to be bred for the sake of being bred....

Also makes me smile to see that Lure is still kicking. I got to meet and get pictures with him many years ago at Marchmont, seems an impossibly long time ago for him to still be around now. So grateful they take such amazing care of their pensioners; Parading has many happy years ahead of him.Retrospectiv wrote:Thanks guys!

He's 27, so hopefully he has a few years of green grass left!LostADream wrote:Also makes me smile to see that Lure is still kicking. I got to meet and get pictures with him many years ago at Marchmont, seems an impossibly long time ago for him to still be around now.

It's my understanding that Sheri Maclean of Northern Dawn Farm has acquired Reload to stand in OntarioIzvestia wrote:Horses I've been following that now look like they are done racing... Kid Cruz, Norumbega, Top Billing. All had good careers, were more promising than their record shows, but had injuries. All could be nice stallions regionally.
Someone in Ontario should buy Reload - his half brother Philanthropist was an absolute stand-out stallion there, and Reload would fit well in Ontario's breeding program.
Also, Bedford Land - Casse did a great job of doing nothing with her.

My own vet is hesitant to buy a horse with four white feet -- for pleasure riding. Is this apparent drift towards flashy white markings being influenced by the breed to sell culture? Or is it just a by-product of the current crop of top stallions? A combination of the two?

Markings are kind of unpredictable, you can't really breed for them unless you're breeding to a horse with a specific gene like splash, sabino, etc. I think it's just a by-product. Bodemeister has been throwing a ridiculous amount of Chrome (Southern Phantom anyone?) for one, but there are others too. Just look in the foaling threadKatewerk wrote:My own vet is hesitant to buy a horse with four white feet -- for pleasure riding. Disappointed that 1064 (Cairo Prince x Tesoro de Amor - Medaglia d'Oro) is an OUT, was really curious to see the little guy and how he'd do.
