When Zenyatta gets bred to American Pharoah it will be something like = American Royalty! hahaha (if she does)
but that doesn't have a Z in it!
American Royalz (pronounced American Royal-Zee)
American Zen
Egyptian Zen
Pharoah of Zen
There are other things that I could do, but there's really nothing that I love as much as horse racing. Chantal Sutherland

Um, what if he ends up shooting blanks?
Give me that short lead, give me that win by a nose, get them all home safely!

I think that Zenyatta et. al. are more likely to go to Pioneer Of The Nile than they are to go to AP. But a lot of these names would work for both.

Anyone who wants to make some money can reserve a ton of names and then sell the names when people want to use them. I wonder how the JC would deal with people selling TB names on eBay? :)

That putrid song would probably prevent the JCGC from letting it go forward.

Maybe there is a God..
You're too young to appreciate how great that song is.

So, I know the Jockey Club rules state that a name needs to be available and have not been used in the past 10+ years. Based on those rules, does that mean the name American Pharaoh is available?

(This isn't a serious question. I know based on the remainder of the rules, including "no similarly-spelled names", this isn't valid)

Then the Horse Park better be prepared to host some serious crowds! I wouldn't wish for that to happen, but I highly doubt I would have ever seen Cigar in the flesh multiple times if he had been a viable stud. I've almost wondered why we haven't seen Rachel Alexandra offered up to the Horse Park if they don't plan to breed her again. I don't think that's official, but it's been a few years now, no?

I think she would be a very nice draw. I'd make a special trip just to see her. Although, I suppose Gin might be a little flustered about having a mare right there in the barn.

Rachel seems to be Barbara Bank's baby and i can't imagine she would be wanting to let her go out of her backyard.

Yep, Rachel's happy right where she is and they have the "See Rachel" days for fans to meet her. No need to rile up the boys in the HOC, even geldings can get funny around mares. Wouldn't want them to start fighting over the pretty new girl. :D

Speaking of fighting, my guess if Pharoah shoots blanks...we get to see the KHP and OF throw it down to get him. My money would be on Michael...

These days, I believe it is fairly easy to test a stallion's fertility, and it is very likely that Coolmore wouldn't have finalized a contract with Zayat before first checking 'Pharoah's swimmers.

Is there a way to do it without using AI equipment and would owners want a colt that is still racing to experience that sexual "release"? Would that not make things a bit more complicated? I'm just a racing fan who has always loved horses and racing, but perhaps those of you who are around horses all the time can maybe get into their heads and get an idea what they're thinking? A couple or so races to go and then AP can have all the babies he wants. LOLOL

Trust me, many colts experience that sexual "release" long before racing. They don't really need help. I've seen many unbred colts, umm, "releasing themselves" quite often.

Ok, ahem, that aside, I thought I read there's a clause in the contract that neither party shall test or know the fertility of the colt until he retires? It was in some or another of the thousand of articles I've come across since last Saturday. I remember because it seemed really risky to me not knowing the fertility of the stallion you're negotiating for, especially after Ashford's fiasco with Cigar.

They should include a clause in the breeding contract that any inclusion of Kitten in any offspring's name triggers an automatic..hmm...either a slap upside the head or a hefty fine
