Okay, not news, but... I know that The Green Monkey hasn't exactly lit up the track with his kids, but his stallion page says, on a separate line beneath a few bullet points: A.Q.H.A. Nominated

Gotta get mares somehow, eh?

Well, seeing as how nobody even came knocking at his door in 2015, I'd imagine they are exploring other ways to fill his feed bucket. Interesting.

Edit: Whoops - looks like one brave girl did come knocking...

I think he has always stood for Quarter Horse mares. According to the one page he has a 2012 QH filly but I don't follow QH racing and have no idea where to find info if she raced or not.

I think you're right, I just found it funny that it now seems to be a selling point

They've always offered him to QH mares.

She has a lovely Sam-Son Farm pedigree, and he crosses well with her. Wish you the best of luck with that!

Sad to hear of this. Great sire who had IMHO perfect conformation. RIP Kingmambo.

It is very sad. Miesque was one of my favorite horses when I first got into racing --even though she had long since retired-- and Kingmambo sired one of my favorites, Lemon Drop Kid.

And he really was a lovely and well-made individual. Lemon Drop Kid is a good, useful sire; and I think his other son El Condor Pasa was off to a promising start (particularly with dirt runners) before his early demise. Better at stud than both of them is King Kamehameha, twice the leading sire in Japan. And of course Henrythenavigator has been very good with juveniles.

Quite the legacy, indeed.

That's awful. Kingmambo's passing was sad but Arch's death is like a punch in the gut for me; I was old enough to follow him when he was racing. What a terrific sire he was.

Ugh. These are such sad losses. I assume Kingmambo was pensioned at his death, but Arch seems like another in a string of losses of producing stallions. =(
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!
