Sinister Minister feeling his oats!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Sinister looks amazing for 18. Lovely dappled coat, and still plenty spicy for his age

It's nice to see he has made a nice career for himself as a stallion, I guess he is kind of the textbook example of what the JBBA would be hoping for in a prospect. One G1 win but not an amazing race record, not a terribly fashionable pedigree, so he wouldn't be a huge splurge financially. But his book sizes kind of buck the trend that so many American imports follow, with modest sizes to start, then levelling off consistently with 100+ mares. Usually you see huge books to start, then within 5 years they're covering single digits.

I thought his sire, Old Trieste, was beautiful. His blaze looked so much like A.P. Indy's blaze. He died at age 8, only getting to sire 3 crops and 198 foals and 14 SWs(7%). He got 2 G1SWs, including a BC Sprint winner(Silver Train), he also had a colt run 2nd in the BC Juvenile/G2SW(Minister Eric). I always felt he was a major loss to the breeding industry and that he would have gotten better mares after his initial success, but he was gone before his foals ever raced.

I LOVED Old Trieste - and you’re right, he was stunning - this statuesque chestnut with a big blaze and stockings. Ouch - 8 years old; so young, with so much promise.

Incantation(JPN) was feeling his oats, too, in the East Stud Stallion Parade on Monday. :D
It looks like he is a true heir of Sinister Minister, descendant of Old Trieste / A.P. Indy!! ;)

Count me another as a big fan of Old Trieste and one who felt his loss was a big one.

What is interesting to me is that Injera, Chrome's winner in France, is from same female family as Old Trieste so maybe that female family does well with AP Indy line.

I agree he looks terrific for his age, but I don't like that right rear fetlock/pastern joint. Looks like he's got some suspensory laxity there which could spell trouble in the future for mounting mares.

''First Japanese foal by Califronia Chrome arrived''

(translation)
First Japanese foal by California Chrome arrived at Okada Bokujo (Farm), Shin-Hidaka, Sizunai, Hokkaido on Feb 10th.
It's a filly out of Eismeer(JPN), six-time winner in JRA & NAR.
Takahiro Okada, manager of Okada Bokujo (Farm), one of the key persons who introduced California Chrome to Japan commented;
''I'm glad that we had a good filly.
She is not so large, as her dam had both South Vigorous(USA) and Northern Taste(CAN).
But, as I had imagined, her boby is stout as well as flexible like her sire.
Pedigree-wise, she may become a dirt horse.
But I hope she will do well on the turf, too, as California Chrome himself won the G1 on the turf.

Although I guess Dubai is also Asia, Chrome is really just about Antarctica away from all 7 continents.
