That 1/2 brother to Beholder had a different name. Didn't Juddmonte own him? If it's the same horse, he had some sort of physical issues that kept him from racing. I think he was on and off unsound. Really doesn't need to be a stallion, imo.
Yea when I was at Juddmonte, one of the trainers said he had some physical issues and was slow as well.

Doesn't seem like a good sire prospect, regardless of his pedigree.
Anyway, Chitu is at Bridlewood. He is a damn good looking horse, but wow, 7 starts.

Kelley really doesn't care, it seems. He has plenty of mares himself.

Kelley is breeding for stamina and durability, I don't think he gives a hoot about the commercial aspect of it.
I find that approach refreshing and wish him the very best of success.
Besides, Kentucky is full of breeders pandering to a dysfunctional marketplace, churning out precocious, frail,
distance challenged from 6 furlongs on and ready for retirement at 8 races or less.

Further adding fuel to my theory that Calumet has something against standing horses for less than $7,500.

Though, as MariasMon mentioned, I don't think Kelley has much of an interest in owning a commercial stallion farm. It will be interesting to see in the next 5+ years if buying all of these unfashionable, turfy, or just out-of-style stallions (not that it makes them bad stallions) pays off with winners.

He bought 71 head at KeeNov. A few were weanlings, but mostly he got mares and broodmare prospects.

Happy to see this. I was worried he wouldn't sire any 2yo winners, let alone a 2yo SW. :D

I hope Giant Oak does well as a stallion. He was a fun horse to follow.

Oh no that si terrible news about Yes It's True :(

Coolmore made a video to promote American Pharoah called "Horse of a Lifetime"
http://coolmore.com/america/coolmore-tv ... oplay=true

Made me a little emotional, but I'm posting here since people are talking about his potential as a sire. Seems like many, including old timers are convinced he has a lot to make a successful sire. Baffert even mentions his conformation/mechanics.

A real shame. Solid breed to race sire that could get a big horse now and then.

Commissioner will be retired after the Hawthorne Gold Cup and will stand at WinStar in 2016 for $7,500. I feel like I should be surprised they don't keep him around as a 5 year old to go for a G1 but then again it is WinStar.
