I meant Zellda not Zilkaflytpthestars wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 7:29 amWas told she is due in late May and Zilka was due the past Friday when I went the week after Easter.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:53 amThey really have slammed the door of secrecy shut tight surrounding Zenyatta, haven't they. Same goes for her offspring as well, I guess. Of course, they are not obligated to release any info at all that they don't want to, but I just find it a bit bizarre.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 11:18 pm
Yeah doesn't mean anything though cause a lot of breeders don't submit anything if the mare didn't get in foal. I'm leaning towards she's still in foal as well. Mostly because on her birthday(April 1st), Lane's End only posted a head shot of her getting some birthday treats. Also I looked up when they announced Zellda was retired and it was an article from May 28th, 2022 where they said she was "recently retired". Agree that only time will tell. They were never in a hurry to breed Zenyatta in the past so her being bred in June wouldn't surprise me. Zellda wasn't born until May 7th and Zilkha was May 17th.

I wasn't a big Zen fan, let alone a "diehard," but I get it. I hate that a noisy few give everyone a bad name. I loved Ashado as a race mare, and it was awesome to get to meet her. I feel bad that Zenyatta's good fans will never get that sort of experience because Lane's End can't trust the general public around her.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:46 pm As a diehard Zen fan, I'd like to defend most of the Big Mare's fans. We're NOT all clueless zealots. I suspect that it's some very noisy apples in the barrel who have painted the rest of us with the Crazy Brush.
(I AM a "diehard" Rushing Fall fan. And I loved following her when she was with e5 Racing. I know I'm not "entitled" to anything, but it sure would have been nice if Coolmore would have at least shared a few pictures of her with her Dubawi filly last year. Just something like Northern Farm did with Swiss Skydiver and her Kingman foal, you know? I knew it wouldn't happen because it's Coolmore, but that would have been nice.)

I visited Coolmore a few years ago. There was an air of secrecy and not a super welcoming vibe. It seems they are more friendly to prominent horse people, trainers, potential breeders etc vs us little people/ fans. While professional, they were not particularly welcoming or friendly. The young Irish guy who did some of the tour was quite careful with his words ( perhaps new?) and seemed to be choosing his words very deliberately to stay within company guidelines. Just not a great experience, as my questions were answered giving the least amount of information. Everyone on the tour seemed tense and we all spoke in low voices bordering on whispers. At least seeing the horses was fun.

Yeah they generally don't share but then out of nowhere they do sometimes. Like they did with Rags to Riches' Munnings filly this year.TwilightTear wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:08 amI wasn't a big Zen fan, let alone a "diehard," but I get it. Terrible situation. Makes me lean more towards Tapitrice in the Derby. Mandy Pope has put a lot into this sport, and losing Havre De Grace and America’s Joy in such devastating ways is heartbreaking.

Bless the broodmares. Their lives can be more dangerous than they ever were when they were racing.

Video of Godolphin's 3 G1 producing dams over Kentucky Oaks/Derby weekend, Pretty City Dancer, Dance Card and Innovative Idea, her Curlin filly seems really sassy and is super cute though they are all cute.

Barbara Banke talks Dreaming of Julia and they show all her fillies, including her unnamed 2yo, yearling and foal. She said after Malathaat they will not sell any of her fillies.
