Talismanic was one of the very few horses I've ever picked to win a Breeders' Cup race based entirely on how pretty he was.Mylute wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:59 pm Yearling filly by Talismanic out of Take Warning (Deep Sky) has a belly spot.

Not that I usually pick winners. Usually my picks get a cramp.

That's my usual strategy, and I picked Talismanic, too.Miesque1973 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:40 pmTalismanic was one of the very few horses I've ever picked to win a Breeders' Cup race based entirely on how pretty he was.Mylute wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 8:59 pm Yearling filly by Talismanic out of Take Warning (Deep Sky) has a belly spot.

I usually pick based on hunches, or for more science based reasons who has the most experience at the track.
I watched Shedaresthedevil win an allowance at Oaklawn during the initial lockdowns, was super impressed, then continued to be impressed as she won a G3. Thought she had a real chance in the Oaks because of what I remembered seeing and then she won.
I thought Hollywood Talent had a shot to hit the board (or get like 4th) because he had a ton of experience at Parx, his previous race was a 4th in a Parx stakes, + a hunch of him being the oldest. Also had quite a bit of back class. Look what happened.

I am almost entirely sentimental. If I see Alydar, Alysheba or Lear Fan in the pedigree, or just about any horse from the Betty Beall branch of family #20, I'm gonna quietly root for it. And jinx it. It's a good thing I don't put money on horses, because I'd be broke all the time.

Benie Des Dieux (Great Pretender x Cana, by Robin Des Champs) is a MG1W hurdle mare who raced through age 9. She appears to have rabicano coloring. While she is pregnant (to Walk In the Park) in the first photo, I can't help but think she's a pretty big mare in general. She is likely to be bred to In Swoop in 2022.
