She isn't that old really, only 16, but has clearly had issues either getting pregnant or carrying her foals to term. She has been bred to produce foals every year from 2011 - 2022 and only has 5 foals from 12 attempts. This is including her breeding for this year since I'm assuming that because she was pensioned and retired she did not get in foal for 2022.

I like it. I like when a mare is sent to different stallions and not the same one every year.Starine wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 7:53 pm So what does everyone think about the Gun Runner x Beholder cross?

Both of Gun Runner's G1SWs are out of Storm Cat line mares. The mating doesn't cause close inbreeding, 4x4 to Storm Cat.
Don't know how Beholder is going to be as a broodmare yet. QB One looks like he is maybe back off the worktab again. Her 2yo filly had an issue and was returned to the farm for turnout in July.

The last mention I saw was 11/8 - that she had been bred to Pierro, and they would know in about ten days whether she was in foal.

It never ceases to amaze me the transition from fit racehorse to broodmare. Enable looks good with her baby bump.Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 7:01 pm Photos of Enable in the article, she is due January 14th.

That's a really nice read! Sometimes, the Bloodhorse articles can be a bit short and choppy, but that one was pretty extensive and informative....and with nice pictures to boot!Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 7:01 pm Photos of Enable in the article, she is due January 14th.

Thanks Flanders for posting it. I don't log in to the BH as much as I used to, so I would probably have missed this one!
