I thought so. They were trying hard to get to $2m.
I know the market is beyond brutal, but I'd let him go for that. Then again, I don't have her kind of money, so it's hard to put myself in her shoes.
No one's pockets are limitless. I deal with people with as much money as her daily. There's always a limit.

Honestly, I don't know where the real money stopped. The announcer was very low key. I think they knew that the vet issue was a problem and this was the likely result, else they would've really hyped up the colt in the ring. Several key buyers were on the colt until the vetting. It's a shame.
Hopefully whatever issue he has is easily fixed or a non-issue in the future and he makes it to the track.

Has Mandy Pope actually raced anything at all? She bought some high priced yearlings at this sale last year and reading a follow up article, it sounds like none of the ones she bought have made it to the track, supposedly falling off the worktab.
I'm not trying to bash her or anything though, her money, her horses.

397, the full to Cairo Prince, went for $500,000.

I mean, she paid $10 mil for the mare. I would think she would want to start recouping some of it. The colt would've likely topped the sale at $1.9 mil. Yeah, 8 years ago, he might've brought double or more. But it's 2016 now.

Havre de Grace's 2014 filly was training at Saratoga with Ralph Nicks. She races them, but none of her big purchases have panned out yet.

Seeing mares like Joyful Victory, Life At Ten and Life Is Sweet (this one a colt by Tapit) as immediate dams tomorrow. Could also do well!
Awesome Again half to Rachel Alexandra (colt)
War Front x Love and Pride
Bodemeister x Mining My Own
Speightstown x Night and Day
War Front x Playa Maya (dam of Uncle Mo)

Per Twitter, Mandy Pope would like to race the HDG colt with a partner.

Don't they usually pinhook? So we'll see the colt in one of the 2yo sales next year in Florida, I would guess.

Yes, but it seems like he's been buying them to race lately. Based upon his quotes after the sale, he plans to put him in training with Todd Pletcher.

Treve, the full to Cairo Prince looked nice, very dark grey, but I'm looking at a livestream on a smallish computer monitor, so my view is hardly good enough to really judge.

She should call Crawford. He 'loves' that kind of deal.

He's too smart to pinhook at that level of yearling price. Are we sure this isn't Repole or Viola?

In the results, he is listed as the agent. So he was buying for a client or clients, most likely.
