interesting to see Lady Aurelia already on the page.Flanders wrote:I'm not going to link 50 pictures but if you want to go check out what Stonestreet's 2018 foals look like you can go through each mares page. The Tapit - Dayatthespa filly has a great facial marking.

They have always been really fast about keeping their broodmare page updating. They have almost always put the mares on the page the day they are retired. I remember a few years ago, they had mares they bought at the November sales on the page the day they bought them.Ziggypop wrote:interesting to see Lady Aurelia already on the page.Flanders wrote:I'm not going to link 50 pictures but if you want to go check out what Stonestreet's 2018 foals look like you can go through each mares page. California Chrome's first colt was foaled in Chile today out of an Eskenderya mare.

@SSilence86, thanks for posting the news and link to Chrome's latest colt. The foal is quite lovely. Many of the Chrome foals we've seen here in North America are impressive and look a lot like him.

Considering southern hemisphere foals share August 1 for age change...Treve wrote:What a cutie! Isn't he a little early though?

Yes that's what I was thinking... I know that the Australian Studbook will make an exception for foals born in July (no sooner than 30 days before August 1st) so long as the mare was covered no earlier than September 1st, maybe the Chilean studbook does the same.SSilence86 wrote:Considering southern hemisphere foals share August 1 for age change...Treve wrote:What a cutie! That's something I've never understood. The Southern Hemisphere's seasons are exactly opposite to the Northern Hemisphere. The first day of Spring for us, usually around March 21, is the first day of Fall for Down Under. First day of Summer, June 21, is the first day of Winter. Everything is different by six months.
The 1st of January is the official birthday for Northern Hemisphere horses. Six months later is July 1st, not August 1st.
Why is the official birthday for SH horses AUGUST 1st? That doesn't make sense to me.

Breeding season in the southern hemisphere starts in Sept.
So I suppose the logic stands...
Northern hemisphere starts in Feb with an age change of Jan 1st. So if breeding starts down there in Sept, then I guess logically Aug would be the age change for southern??
