Not sure. Sending a not exactly unproblematic broodmare reproductive- wise to a stallion with purported fertility issues might not be the best choice, especially in the late Spring.

I didn't realize Zenyatta was a descendant of Troy. I travelled on the overnight boat train from Dover to Calais along with hundreds of optimistic (and drunk) Britons on their way to see Troy win the Arc. I then went to Longchamp to see. . . Three Troikas win the Arc. I stayed a few more days in Paris but I imagine the trip home for those lads was much more somber (and probably just as sodden).

And this then, naturally sent me back to look at her pedigree. Wow, she has Roberto and Princequillo in her pedigree! Who knew (obviously not I).

Well, I wasn't aware that there might be fertility issues with City of Light. I hadn't heard about that. That's too bad if true. He was a very classy individual on the track with a pedigree that should be pretty attractive to breeders.

Also, even though it's still technically "late Spring", for a couple more weeks at least, I didn't mean to suggest that Zenyatta be bred to City of Light or to anybody for that matter this late. I was just meaning for down the road. ;)

Have you heard anything about Catalina Cruiser? He had a hard time getting the mares in foal here. Never got any of them in foal on the first try. It took two to three trips for them to get in foal

I’m just talking about the mares on the farm that I work on, I don’t think he’s another Battle of Midway. Anyway the farm had four go to him and two are in foal. One mare took two trips while the other took three before getting in foal. One mare is barren for next year and the last mare just went on her second trip tonight to him so we’ll find out in a couple weeks if she takes.

Did the mare you mentioned ever get in foal to Catalina cruiser?

She did not, although she had colic surgery not too long after being bred so that could have been a factor.

He looks really good. I'm not familiar with the farm he's at, but his rider trains with Daniel Bluman, who is very talented and a legit top rider in the world rankings. I'll give them credit for turning him out really nicely. Veredus boots, CWD bridle, Calming Mask under his fly bonnet (guessing he's stress prone, which is pretty common). His rider posts pretty often about him on her insta, if anyone’s interested
