I remember him! He was my favorite 3 year old in 2021. Happy to see he's going to stud.

It looks like some version of glue on shoes. Those ones that look like what I'd call Jelly Shoes (for humans).

It's hard to tell for sure, but I think what we're seeing isn't all hoof. It's like he's wearing some sort of rubbery 'sleeve,' that's maybe part of a glue-on shoe concoction?
Whatever they are, his front feet don't seem to be fabulous. :(

According to a post from Old Friends, Birdstone has been paired with the gelding Photon as a paddock mate. They described Birdstone as "high strung" and a stallion who is always interested in what his gelding neighbors were doing. Apparently he would try to get their attention and get them to run along the fence with him.

Birdstone was very friendly when I was there and I don't remember them warning us that he was a biter or nibbler. Though to be fair "high strung" doesn't necessarily mean "aggressive" or "biter."

I also got to see Photon but he was in quarantine. We could get close enough for decent pictures but could not pet or feed him. Photon seemed to be disappointed we could not visit with him because he immediately came to the fence and started hollerin' when our group walked away.

Photon 2009. (Invasor × Lady Bertrando, by Bertrando) - 8xW in 38 starts.
