Probably my favorite of Man O Wars sons, I know War Admiral tends to share alot of the lime light due to his tc win and the Seabiscuit match race. I'm curious about Battleship though.
Are there any studs around today (or even mares) who trace back to Battleship?

Most of his highest earnings son (aka the ones that are most likely to be given a chance at stud) were geldings.. His son Tide Rips had 11 named foals none of them any big names on the track.
I don't really know how to track their bloodlines effectively, but
The latest horse I can find with my talents (which are slim to none) is named Marked Mahogany, a colt born in1974, his female family runs back to Battleship. Unraced and no progeny.

If Battleships line is extinct that's a shame. The man o war line (male line) as a whole is disappearing in the US.

I would think there is no way his male line is still going. He is probably out there in some pedigrees but its so much effort trying to find a horse that would be that far back in a pedigree. I even pulled old TB Times Stallion directories because they have an index that has all horses in the first 5 generations for all the stallions being advertised. That was one of my favorite things about their stallion directory, anyway I grabbed the oldest (1989) and newest (2009) and he wasn't in any pedigrees.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:23 pmstelladaniella wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 3:07 pm Most of his highest earnings son (aka the ones that are most likely to be given a chance at stud) were geldings.. I'm pretty certain that Man o' War's sire line is just whoever is left from the War Relic/Intentionally/In Reality line.

I think War Admiral would be another. I'm more so interested looking at the historic perspective because the man o war line is one of the few possibly the only that carries the godolphin lineFlanders wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:32 pmI would think there is no way his male line is still going. Not male line. Its literally only the War Relic line. This is the last of the Godolphin Arabian.Akitaperson wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 4:39 pmI think War Admiral would be another. I know you weren't on here at the time but we discussed the topic when Tiznow was pensioned without getting an heir apparent. And how low of representatives this line has worldwide. Its pretty much gone from Kentucky, no one breeds to Bal A Bali. There are a few in Europe, Dream Ahead and a couple of his sons (they are from the In Reality/Known Fact line). South America has some representatives. But in the US, its mostly regional stallions representing the line.
https://paulickreport.com/news/bloodsto ... sire-line/ Here is the article from then. The article highlights a few stallions, Bal A Bali bred 4 mares in 2023, Tourist failed and was moved to a regional market. Put It Back died in 2021.
