Don't know if this has been posted but I saw it on FB. He never fulfilled the promise of that great BCJ run but "an Arazi-like run" will be part of the vernacular for a while. Sire of Congaree, a similarly flashy chestnut with a longer career. thanks for the memories, Arazi.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I remember he won a G2 at Longchamp before coming over to contest the BC Mile as a 3yo and looked like he might be back at top form, ESPN live broadcast the entire Arc card on the main ESPN channel, ahhh for the days when channels cared. He didn't run great at the BC and retired to stud. I wanted to come back with an edit and say, I don't think any Europeans ran particularly well that year cause the BC was in Florida but that was alongtime ago and I've seen a lot of races since then. I don't think he was the same at 3, whether it was the surgery he had over the winter from 2 to 3 or if they rushed bringing him back so he could make the Kentucky Derby. But when he was on his game, he was great. I just went on Youtube and found his winnings races that I could find. Always loved him and his crooked blaze.

I'm sad that he is gone of course, but happy that he lived a long life. I'll never forget that moment when he blasted by the entire field!

"Here indeed is a superstar!" One of Tom Durkin's most memorable calls. RIP Arazi.

My Macaw is named after Congaree. I was a kid when Arazi ran and was a big fan.

(I do remember that video of him at 30. He looked incredible!)

And he managed that scorching stretch run on his wrong lead almost all the way to the wire. 8-)

I never got to see him run except for replays on YouTube but Arazi certainly was a very handsome horse..I'll miss him greatly. There was also just another elderly runner we lost in the last couple days. Bay horse who I also believe was 30

Kind of felt like he would be around forever, like Forty Niner. Arazi was certainly a runner.
