Have all announced fee drops for 2021. So why haven't farms like hill n dale done the same thing? The only hill n dale horses who's fees dropped dramatically were kittens joy, good magic(makes sense as I don't yet think his first crop has reached the races), Army mule(who is a meh stud to begin with and I'm surprised he's still there) and Bayern(who besides tempers rising, bayerness and bourbon bay hasn't sired much of note)...the other 9 stallions on hill n dales roster had no fee change. I can't judge darley's or coolmore yet because I don't think either farm has released a 2021 roster or fee yet. And I kind of don't expect coolmore to announce any fees or fee adjustment until after the breeders cup

Taylor Made actually raised Not This Time to $40,000 - from $12,500.........which I find really a bad move. Obviously NTT has had a brilliant freshman season, but that his a huge jump, and in a year when many sires have had their stud fees slashed - including War Front (dropped to $150,000) - I think it's ridiculous. I think it's way too big of a jump anyway....even in an ordinary year.

Please define 'bad move'. Are you suggesting they will have a hard time filling his book at $40,000?Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 2:15 am Taylor Made actually raised Not This Time to $40,000 - from $12,500.........which I find really a bad move. I didn’t say that, I just don’t like it. Claiborne reduced fees because they thought it was the right thing to do...I seriously doubt War Front would have had issues filling his book. Obviously other good studs had their fees slashed, too.Horsebagger wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:13 amPlease define 'bad move'. Farms reduce fees because it is what they NEED to do, not because it is what is “right”. I think War Front might be having some fertility issues as he is getting up there and fee reduction is in exchange for the hassle of multiple covers.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:25 amI didn’t say that, I just don’t like it. The fact you're using War Front as a basis to defend your point is key to exactly why it's NOT a bad move. I believe increasing his now BELOW MARKET fee from 12,500 to anywhere between $25,000 and $60,000 could be defensible given his offspring's performance on the track and in the sales ring, not to mention his pedigree. And my definition of 'defensible' is contingent on the specific book of mares (in terms of quality and numbers) he can achieve. That's something the farm 100% already knows and you and I don't. And I trust they can do the math.Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:25 amI didn’t say that, I just don’t like it. Just my opinion, and its completely possible everybody who breeds to him this year at $40,000 never makes a dime of profit. We'll be one of them.

They're ultimately running a business, I think getting good books for their stallions is more important than "doing the right thing".Slewfan2 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:25 amI didn’t say that, I just don’t like it. On a real note, just because they didn't drop their all of their stallion fees doesn't mean they aren't offering value.
