First Crop Sires and Million Dollar+ 2yos

Pretty interesting to see how the First crop sires did with their million dollar 2yos since 2000. For the most part the 2yos have been a bust. The fillies have fared better with all 5 winning, 4 GSWs and stakes producers, and the 5th being G1 placed. This far outnumbers the colts who have 3 GSWs from 12, with 2 unraced (not counting the two from 2020).

Have there been any statistical comparisons between race results of 7-figure yearlings vs 7-figure 2yos? I feel like that would be very interesting to see.

It's a shame that he had such fertility issues, he actually was a decent stallion considering that he stood in Florida until the last two years of his stud career and had modest sized books. His first year at stud (2003) he had 58 foals from 88 covers (66%), then 50 foals from 87 covers (57%), 45 from 75 (60%), 21 from 37 (56%), 21 from 51 (41%), 6 from 31 (19%), 1 from 17 (6%), 0 from 3 (0%), 1 from 3 (33%). He was pensioned at 14.

I spent a couple weeks at Adena Springs Ocala in winters of 2006-2008, and his fertility issues were well known by then. He was still a real sweetheart, though.

I missed that one, and I even remember the horse. I think he was trained by Baffert.

At least in Red Bullet's defence, the young sons of Unbridled were very desirable at that time due to his early success at stud, and RB was a classic winner.
I think the Sea of Secrets 2yr old was the biggest surprise for the price, and I remember both of these from the time. Still likely have the BH copies somewhere.

Not that I've ever seen. Its a daunting task because of the amount of yearlings that have sold for 1 million+. From 2001 to 2018, over 400 yearlings sold for over a million in the US, while slightly over 100 2yos did. That part is easy to look up. The attempting to find 500+ horses race records, that a good portion were sold to other countries, is something I don't want to do.
