Last month was the 40 year anniversary of female jockeys being licensed to ride against the male jockeys in New Zealand, now 43% of all New Zealand jockeys are female, three female jockeys have won national jockeys titles and all but one of our G1 races have been won by females

I hope that Nanako will emulate Lisa Allpress.
Nanako commented in an interview in 2016, ''Lisa is my idol!''.
Lisa replied, ''Gambatte (all the best) Nanako! Mental strength is the most important key to be a good jockey.''
How is Lisa doing now in New Zealand, RugbyGirl?

Lisa Allpress finished 11th on the 2017/18 Jockeys Premiership (August-July) after spending about 5 months out with both her shoulders injured! She spent a lot of that time mentoring some of the younger apprentice jockeys and spending time with her teenage sons.
Lisa returned to raceriding around March and has picked up plenty of winners since including 2 wins this past Saturday. She is the regular rider of 6yo mare Ladies First a Melbourne Cup contender

Thank you!!!
Lisa Allpress was not given many opportunies to ride best horses during her short stay in JRA.
But many Japanese fans were fascinated by her skill.

Yes I (tried to) follow Lisa as close as I could while she was in Japan she has always been one of my favs. I think she was starting to pick up a couple of good rides when she was injured there. She will ride a mare named Sensible Princess in a G1 this Saturday
