Star international sprinter Lucky Nine (IRE) has finally touched down in Melbourne after a typhoon delayed his passage out of Hong Kong.
Lucky Nine was supposed to arrive at Tullamarine Airport yesterday but Typhoon Usagi, the strongest to hit Hong Kong in 35 years, put paid to those plans.
Trainer Casper Fownes said the delayed flight was of no concern to Lucky Nine’s spring plans where he will chase two Group 1s - the Manikato Stakes (1200m) and the Patinack Farm Classic (1200m).
The classy six-year-old son of Dubawi has not raced since finishing three lengths clear of Bel Sprinter in Singapore’s Group 1 Krisflyer International Sprint (1200m).
