Well, you had a jockey who hadn’t won a race since October and a horse who broke his maiden (albeit impressively) only a week ago. He had finished only fifth in a race on 12 June. Serpentine has now run one 12f and two 10f races in less than a month.
I love Frankie, but I was happy to see Tom Marquand finish ahead of him after losing the ride on English King to Frankie.

I was a bit surprised by this outcome as Mishriff had finished second to the Japanese dirt runner Full Flat(USA) at the Saudi Derby in Feb.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 9:42 am Mishriff won the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) for John Gosden
Full Flat was well-beaten by Cafe Pharoah(USA) a few weeks ago.

Horse at the Corale Challenge Handicap getting re-shoed right before the start (never seen that one before).
Another horse had enough after 5 minutes an run off
Montatham won, Dark Vision second.
Next up: Enable! Just half an hour to go!

There'd been tons of buzz for Fancy Blue since last fall, nice to see her live up to the hype.
It looks like Donnacha has had more Coolmore horses at this stage in his career than Joseph did. Not sure what to make of that, maybe nothing, but even when he was starting out, I don't remember Joseph having nearly as many ex. AOB Coolmore horses in his care... besides ones that JP McManus bought to be taken over fences.

Ghaiyyath takes it from start to finish! Enable got second and Japan was 3rd. Not bad for her first outing this year, I liked that she really dug down to get second. Was missing her explosiveness, but guess she wasn't cranked to 100%.

I believe half an interest in Japan was sold to Masaaki Matsushima in February. At the time it sounded like, if Japan runs in the 2020 Arc, Yutaka Take will get the ride
Ghaiyyath gets left alone on the lead again, and wins, again. Surprised no one entered a pacemaker to try to rattle him up, tbh.
Frankie didn't look like he gave Enable that hard of a ride.

Gosden did say she might need the race. Ghayyaith has already run twice this year.

Yeah. It wasn't a bad race by her either and I liked that she had some fight in her to get second. Good way to start this year.ThreeMustangs wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 10:44 am Gosden did say she might need the race. Ghayyaitn has already run twice this year.

I mean, he won over a mile and a half in June, so he does get further. I do want to see how he handles another horse challenging his lead next time out, which I think will be in the Juddmonte International over 10f. His end of year target is the Arc again, and I can guarantee that he'll get no easy lead over there.katmandu wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:19 pmGhayyaith didn't look like he wanted to run another meter.Kurenai wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 10:45 amYeah.
