Al Qudra tried to go through a hole that closed just as he was there, clipped heels badly. Stayed up, jockey somehow stayed in the saddle, he lost a stirrup.

the overhead showed a horse to Al Qudra's inside drifting out a little, so he had to a bit as well and was going for a hole when the 7 came out much faster than he could react and the hole closed when he already had his head poking thru.the 7 looked to over-correct after that but it didnt seem to be a big impact on anything.

It was on Youtube. I don't know what happens tomorrow, though. TV broadcast rights and whatnot.Palace Malice wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:03 pmIt's even worse in Canada, it's so hard to find a streamBaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:59 pm My TV guide shows the USA coverage of the BC ending at 5 pm PT. That would mean the 5th BC race, the Juvenile Turf, will NOT be shown to the public, unless they subscribe to FanDrool.

It was scary, but it seemed nobody was particularly at fault for it. Just bad luck, glad everyone stayed up.

yeah i also agreed w it, just didn't see it posted here. i don't even see the article up for it on bloodhorse.
edit; mostly i was just surprised there wasnt more talk abt the incident itself across all the places i read/post, just looked mighty scary for a beat there.

Does anyone know where Mentee finished? He seemed to have absolutely nothing left when they turned for home.
There is a rumor that Native Dancer’s ghost haunts Churchill Downs, fitting considering that it was the only place he lost a race.

Saw somewhere that he bled. Which would make sense because I remember thinking I saw blood out his nose in the hopeful.Raise A Native wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 9:53 pm Does anyone know where Mentee finished? He seemed to have absolutely nothing left when they turned for home.

As Tessablue commented on the other thread, the Juvenile fractions were absurd--it's pretty obvious that most jockeys do NOT have the proverbial "clocks in their heads." I can only assume that they were all thinking "Oh, three Bafferts! They must be going really fast!" Instead of reasoning "It's three Bafferts--they must be trying to slow things down!" But it isn't all just "loose on the lead." Citizen Bull prepped with four 5f works, two of them bullets. Gaming's last two works were at 5 and 6f--I think he was the only one of the major contenders to have a 6f work. In contrast, Chancer McPatrick's last four works were at 4f.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I think they all must have decided ahead of time that the pace would be contested and they would take off of it. Then East Avenue stumbled and they just… didn’t adjust at all. Maybe they thought those Bafferts would come back to them, but there’s no reason to think that! Those are nice horses, they aren’t coming back if you let them get strong out there! Passive riding is maybe the most frustrating thing to encounter as a bettor, because you expect everyone involved to put in their best effort.
Mentee ran like a horse who bled, and I’m glad it wasn’t anything worse. Hope the little guy gets a nice long rest this winter, he’s had a long year.

It was a terrible race because nobody… tried. Baffert horses will beat you if you let them walk the dog. I mean, he had 3 horses in the race, he was bound to win!Tessablue wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 11:35 pm I think they all must have decided ahead of time that the pace would be contested and they would take off of it. Too bad about the big horse, East Avenue, I hope he’s ok. Chancer had no chance with that pace.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
