HARLEY!!!!
I have been waiting a long time for a Harley sighting, but he apparently works only Churchill and Keeneland.
I hope Crown Pride wasn't unnerved by being next to our favorite black behemoth. Harley makes everyone look like a pony.

Love that Crown Pride is first to churchill, seems very calm and intelligent, professional.
I chose him to win the UAE (but I only picked from those who were TC nominated so that cut down my choices, but it was a good choice after all).
I have to say I impressed by the patient handling he seems to receive.
Would like to know more about his female side....to me he looks most like White Muzzle going back a few gens by Dancing Brave....small horse, long neck, etc. which I like for ky derby........big horses seem better for belmont

Alan Porter gave a good insight on BH.
Crown Pride's dam Emmy's Pride won nine of 27 starts racing at Monbetsu and Funabashi on the secondary Japan NRA circuit. She was a sprinter, which is a little surprising in view of her pedigree, as she is a daughter of Kingmambo's Japan Derby winner King Kamehameha, and her dam, Emmy's Smile, is a black-type winner who scored at as far as 10 furlongs. Emmy's Smile is by Agnes Tachyon, a son of Sunday Silence who went 4-for-4, including the 10-furlong Satsuki Sho (Japanese Two Thousand Guineas).
A half sister to black-type winner Diraqouee, Emmy's Smile is out of Hemisphere, who is by Dancing Brave's Italian Derby (G1) winner White Muzzle. Neither the fourth dam, Grey Eminence (by group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe scorer Tony Bin), nor the fifth dam, Grey Quill, produced a black-type horse. Grey Quill, who was unraced, was foaled in the U.S. and imported to Japan. She was half sister to the Arlington Classic (G1) winner Sumptious, but it's likely that her specific appeal was that her second dam, Twill, was a half sister to Shill, the dam of champion Japanese 2-year-old Maruzensky. Twill and Shill are both out of Princequillo's daughter Quill, champion at 2 and a top-class performer at 3 and 4. A very successful producer, Quill is now ancestress of more than 70 stakes winners, 13 of them group or grade 1, including champion 2-year-old filly Awesome Feather; champion turf horse Run the Gantlet; and champion Canadian turf horse One For All.
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... her-status

I believe that Grey Quill(USA), Crown Pride's fifth dam, was imported to Japan by Shadai Farm (Zenya Yoshida).
She was owned by Shadai Farm.
One may say that Crown Pride is purely a Shadai Farm horse, as his fourth dam Grey Eminence(JPN) is by Tony Bin(IRE), third dam Hemisphere(JPN) by White Muzzle(GB), second dam Emmy's Smile(JPN) by Agnes Tachyon(JPN) and first dam Emmy's Pride(JPN) by King Kamehameha(JPN).
All the stallions mentioned above stood at Shadai Stallion Station, as his sire Reach the Crown(JPN) did when he covered Emmy's Pride in 2018. (Reach the Crown is standing at Arrow Stud as of today)
Crown Pride is owned by Teruya Yoshida, the eldest son of Zenya Yoshida, who now owns Shadai Farm.

And, a bit interestingly, Stay Foolish(JPN)(Stay Gold), another DWC Day winner this year in the Dubai Gold Cup, is out of the same family line as Crown Pride.
Remembrance(USA), 1911M. by Broomstick(USA), is the ninth dam of Stay Foolish and the twelfth dam of Crown Pride.
Both Crown Pride and Stay Foolish are bred by Shadai Farm.
Both have the Sunday Silence - King Kamehameha cross.

But Efforia, no turn of foot at all :o
That was a total throughout for Efforia who finished only 9th off odds 1 to 2.
His trainer explained that he injured his eye hitting the gate, unsettled between two mares etc.
But I believe that his lead-up training to the race was farm from perfect this time in his first travel to Kansai Area.
Fortunately his eye injury was not serious, anyway, and he is likely to run next in the G1 Takarazuka Kinen.
I strongly hope that the reigning Horse of the Year will show his true self next time out!!

Stars on Earth's Oka Sho victory is the first G1 success for the owner ''Shadai Race Horse'' since the 2017 Japanese Oaks won by Soul Stirring.
Most of the horses owned by ''Shadai Race Horse'' are bred by Shadai Farm. Both ''Shadai Farm'' and ''Shadai Race Horse'' are operated under the management of Teruya Yoshida, the eldest son of Zenya Yoshida, or Teruya's son Tetsuya.

It’s been ''Northern Farm'' and its racing clubs ''Sunday Racing'', ''Carrot Club'' and ''Silk Racing'' that largely dominated the highest levels in Japan over the past five years or so. These entities are managed, directly or indirectly, by Katsumi Yoshida, the second son of Zenya Yoshida.
While it looked like Teruya was enjoying the racing and the breeding as if he was a kid, Katsumi has always been a better business owner with his more realistic approach.
Katsumi was arguably the most aggressive buyer of broodmares in overseas markets and he made huge success with that.
Teruya was up against it.

But it looks like Teruya and his productions have been doing better most recently.
This year, Teruya won major races in Saudi and Dubai, and a Classic victory here after a long time.
And he will race his horse Crown Pride(JPN) in the Run for the Roses in three weeks.
Personally I'm interested to see if there will be a sort of turnaround of hierarchy in the Yoshida Family's operations.
I know that many Japanese fans are welcoming Teruya and his silks' comebacks, too. :D

You are welcome! :D
Both Teruya and Katsumi are from the same ''Yoshida'' family and core members of the ''Shadai'' Group, of course.
But there is an intense rivalry between the two who have different characteristics.
It's fun to follow it.
Some of us in Japan call Teruya's operations ''Shadai'' and Katumi's operations ''Northern''.
I personally look forward to seeing what Teruya does in years to come, as he will have a new private training facility for his horses soon, too.
Will Teruya be able to improve his operations and eventually beat Katsumi's Northern Farm / Sunday Racing etc?

Umanity.jp has a handy database if one wants to find various rankings in Japan in English, by the way.

Great article about how the great Sunday Silence lives on through his progeny and is now appreciated by American Breeders.

That’s a great article indeed.
And I wonder if the Heart's Cry line will be the best fit for the US racing.
His progeny does well not only on the turf but also on the dirt.
