He was a long- term standardbred trainer- just new to TB racing -seems he had milkshake violations there too

I assume he'll be first call for any Bob Hess horses down there, but not sure who else he's connected with.

Very hard to get mounts at Santa Anita unless you're one of top 3 or 4 jocks, Kent is just in the HOF, nothing more I guess ;)
I don’t think anyone questions Kent’s talent; it’s whether he’s going to show up and be fit to ride on any given day.
B-I-NGO……… He’s still as good as there is on the turf but in so. CA Rispoli and Prat—when he’s around—are going to get their pick because you know they’ll show up. You also don’t have to worry about them imagining they see the wire 40 yards early.

I think we need to add Antonio Fresu to that pair you mentioned. He's better on the dirt than Rispoli is, but he's also very effective on the grass.

Plus, as of today, he finds himself on top of the jockey standings for the meet with 1 win up on the usual local juggernaut Hernandez.

You’re right, I saw Fresu in person last summer at Del Mar for the first time, he rides on the turf well.

It was kind of bizarre to me when I checked on the jockey standings in the middle of the big Santa Anita meeting. The top 5 placings were occupied by 6 guys (2 were tied for 5th). In the main TB meeting for the winter in California, the nationalities of those 6 riders were one from Mexico (Hernandez), one from Chile (Berrios), one from France (Prat), and THREE from Italy (Dettori, Rispoli, and Fresu)!! I found that a little hard to wrap my head around!😊

Frankie Dettori visits Penn National for the first time...and wins the Penn Oaks on Poolside With Slim. And he also just won a close finish in the Penn Mile on First World War.

My buddy, who’s not a huge racing fan, met him at a local Scheetz gas station tonight after the race. He said Dettori was a very nice guy, talked about his family, and was really down to earth. My buddy said that apparently, the dinner of champions is a salad, a 6 pack, and a bottle of wine.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Jockey Keith Asmussen fell from his mount Singsational shortly after the start on Saturday's first race. Conscious, he has been transported to University Hospital for further evaluation of a probable left femur fracture and possible hip injury. Horse okay.

Femur fractures are brutal. Such a shame to get an injury like that so early in his career. Between the time off and his ever growing size, I hope this isn't a career ending injury.

I was thinking the same. Maybe he will join his father as a trainer. Hope he has a smooth recovery.

Damn...Fandrool just relayed info that Keith may have not only broken his femur, but his hip as well. :(
His dad went to the hospital with him, so you know he's worried.

Erik Asmussen also injured when thrown from his mount past the wire at Lone Star-also taken to hospital but injuries not thought to be serious but waiting for X rays. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing ... -incidents

If I were a dad I think I would be singing "Momma, don't let your boys grow up to be jockeys. . . " It's just so dangerous.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Prat got a three day suspension............

Suppose to start on the Friday of Saratoga Super Weekend.

Guessing he'll be granted a delay by Santa Anita stewards.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
