Equestrians say that a good stallion makes a great gelding and I think that applies in horse racing as well.

Full sisters Hidden Grace (6 y/o) and Melisandre (4 y/o) finished first and second in the Distaff Stakes at Assiniboia Downs.

They are both by Going Commando and o/o the Pioneering daughter High Pioneer, who also produced two full brothers that both won stakes.

I will note that it was only a field of three in the race.

The name 'Augusta' for a colt? I thought 'Augusta' was the female version of 'August.'

My grandmother’s name was Augusta we called her”“Gussie” because she was a vain southern belle who hated being called Grandma.

I think it was a typo. The colt's name is Auguste Rodin, after the artist.

I feel your frustration. The Autocorrect on my phone tries to turn much of what I type into word salad. Hate it.

Been there many times myself. Autocorrect fails can turn out to be really funny, but mostly they're just a pain.
